JOB SUMMARY

The Central Repair Technician works within a collaborative team environment to support the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission's (MSLC) various terminal offerings. This role is responsible for diagnosing and repairing all sub-assemblies and peripherals of the Lottery's online and off-line wagering systems in accordance with manufacturers' specifications.

Technicians are expected to complete all related documentation to ensure accurate database entries for future trend analysis and to maintain effective inventory control. By executing precise data entry requirements, this role ensures that repair histories are accurate, equipment lifecycles are tracked, and daily performance metrics are properly quantified.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following established security, compliance, and safety protocols.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair sub-assemblies, peripherals, and components of Lottery online and off-line terminal wagering systems to manufacturers' specifications.

• Support the rollout of upgrades, software updates, and new terminal deployments by preparing and testing equipment.

• Fulfill or exceed expected daily contribution to departmental repair volume, meeting established productivity standards

• Perform preventive maintenance and quality checks to ensure equipment reliability, compliance, and readiness for deployment.

• Accurately complete and maintain all required documentation, including repair logs, database entries, and parts tracking, to support trend analysis and inventory control.

• Execute database entry requirements to ensure repair histories are properly recorded and daily work participation is quantified.

• Collaborate with team members, Shipper/Receiver staff, and other departments to coordinate equipment flow and ensure timely distribution of terminals and parts.

• Communicate effectively with Manager, Supervisor and team members regarding repair status, recurring issues, and potential improvements to repair processes.

• Adapt to changing workloads and priorities in a fast-paced technical environment, ensuring that deadlines and operational needs are met.

• Work in close proximity to others while maintaining a cooperative and harmonious work environment.

• Ability to complete multiple tasks throughout scheduled shift.

• Participate in ongoing training to remain current with evolving technology, equipment updates, and security procedures.

• Demonstrate the ability and willingness to educate and train new staff members, sharing technical knowledge and best practices to support team development.

• Represent the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission with professionalism and integrity in all internal and external interactions.

• Must be physically capable of performing heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.) and be able to stand on concrete floor for long periods of time. Pushing, pulling and lifting are also essential duties.

• Must have a valid driver's license and the ability to travel across the Commonwealth as necessary.

• Performs other related duties and special projects assigned to support departmental goals and ensure operational continuity.

Qualifications

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 2 years of experience in equipment repair, maintenance, or electronics troubleshooting.

• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively with vendors, coworkers, and cross-functional teams to support collaboration, resolve issues, and maintain positive working relationships.

• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and standard repair practices for electronic and mechanical systems.

• Strong computer skills, including familiarity with database entry, inventory management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

• Thorough knowledge of and/or experience with gaming terminal hardware, peripherals, and related components.

• Knowledge of workplace safety practices, compliance standards, and secure handling of sensitive equipment.

• Thorough knowledge of electronic testing and repair tools, equipment, and software applications.

• Working knowledge of telecommunications network as it relates to MSLC terminal wagering system - wireless communication via LAN/WAN.

• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate repair histories and inventory records.

• Ability to evaluate and repair prototype products and prepare draft evaluations for management review.

• Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, or guide new staff members.

• Willingness to learn new technologies, adapt to evolving equipment updates, and participate in ongoing training.

• Familiarity with current service procedures as suggested by OEM.

• Strong teamwork skills with the ability to share knowledge, support colleagues, and contribute to group success in a fast-paced environment.

• Consistently demonstrates reliable and punctual attendance.

• General working knowledge of audiovisual systems and connector types, with familiarity in signal flow and signal types considered a plus.
