Overview:
The Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Advancement will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of the University's Advancement division, which includes managing budgeting, strategic planning, training, and hiring, as well as leading key fundraising teams. These teams include Major Gifts and Annual Giving. The AVP will work closely with senior leadership, volunteers, faculty, staff, alumni, and donors to support and further the mission of the university through effective advancement strategies.
The ideal candidate for the Assistant Vice President of Advancement at Salem State University will possess a blend of strategic leadership, fundraising expertise, and strong interpersonal skills. They will have a deep understanding of public higher education advancement, a proven track record of driving successful fundraising initiatives, and a passion for supporting the mission of the university.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in higher education advancement, or a similar non-profit fundraising environment, including significant experience in managing staff, budgets, and strategic planning.
- Experience managing a portfolio of donor prospects, including setting and achieving fundraising goals.
- Experience with major gift fundraising and annual giving programs.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets and fundraising metrics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate a wide range of stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree or equivalent experience in advancement, non-profit management, business, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a diverse team, demonstrating strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in building and sustaining effective relationships with alumni, donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
- Expertise in leveraging technology and data analytics to enhance fundraising strategies and donor engagement.
- Strong project management and organizational skills with a focus on achieving measurable outcomes.
Working Location
This is a hybrid position in Salem, MA with some on-campus, in-person responsibilities.
