ENERGY & ENVIRONMENT BUREAU

Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a motivated and skilled individual to join her team as an Administrative Assistant in the Office of the Attorney General's Energy & Ratepayer Advocacy Division (ERA). ERA is looking for a qualified candidate who can begin work in July or August 2025.
Pursuant to G.L. c. 12, § 11E, ERA advocates on behalf of the customers of Massachusetts' electric, gas, and water companies. ERA's mission includes holding utilities accountable for providing just and reasonable rates; advocating for a smart, cost-effective and equitable clean energy transition; and protecting consumers from predatory energy companies.

Primary Duties: The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to ERA's Assistant Attorneys General, Paralegals, and Analysts. The Administrative Assistant provides direct administrative support to the Division Chief, including scheduling meetings, managing calendars, and coordinating staff meetings. The Administrative Assistant also processes requests for authorization; manages workflow; trains new staff on administrative procedures; manages ERA's records; tracks ERA's budget; and assists in planning division social events. The Administrative Assistant serves as ERA's contract manager and is responsible for distributing Requests for Qualifications; compiling consultant responses; preparing consultant contracts; coordinating the contract approval and execution process; processing consultant invoices; and tracking contract budgets. The Administrative Assistant also serves as ERA's contact for divisions across the Office, including the Executive, Human Resources, IT, Budget, and Operations Divisions.

Position Type: Full-Time/Exempt.

Please Note: Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.

Salary: $56,592

Qualifications

Position Requirements :

Associate or bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of related education and administrative assistant or legal assistant experience is preferred. Applicants must possess strong organizational and communication skills. Applicants must be reliable, be detail oriented and accurate, be able to manage and prioritize multiple tasks, and be able to work under pressure and time constraints.

Applicants must be skilled at working with professionals with diverse backgrounds and roles to successfully coordinate with others and ensure that the division runs smoothly and effectively.

Candidates must have strong computer skills and an in-depth understanding of Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft SharePoint is preferred. Experience or interest in law, energy, and/or working in the public interest is also a plus. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a connection to the people and communities we serve, and an interest in supporting a respectful and inclusive work environment.
