Access Services Manager (Evening/Weekend)

Job Description

Overview:

Manages all routine evening and weekend operations, activities and services related to Access Services, including circulation, help services, student supervision, student training, and stacks management. Responsible for administration of all related work, including the supervision of classified employees. Ensures delivery of outstanding customer services in-person and online. Ensures appropriate staffing so that the library can open and close daily according to the published schedule. Creates procedures and plans and implements and enforces library policies. Recommends library opening and closing schedules to the Dean of the Library and the Assistant Director of Library Operations and may make emergency closing decisions in the absence of the Dean. Serves as a member of the Library Leadership Council, comprised of all professional library staff.

Work Days: Sunday - Thursday/Hours: Typically, 2:30 pm-11 pm but fluctuate based on closing hours during the summer and breaks.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree.
2. Minimum of two years of relevant experience working with library patrons in an academic or public library.
3. Experience with operating library management software, such as Evergreen.
4. Managerial skills, including supervising and training staff and the ability to plan, organize, coordinate and delegate work, and to use time effectively.

  • Commitment to maintaining and augmenting professional knowledge and skills through participation in professional development opportunities.

    This is an onsite, in-person position in Salem, MA, which includes regular evening and weekend hours.
