Senior Director, Income Tax

The Senior Director, Income Tax will lead and oversee all aspects of the company's domestic tax function with a focus on federal and state tax return preparation, modeling effective tax rate implications of legislative initiatives and enactments, merger and acquisition tax support, computation of the Company's global effective tax rate, compliance with ASC 740 accounting standards, and SEC reporting. This senior leadership role requires a strategic and technical expert tax professional capable of navigating complex U.S. and international tax legislation and driving operational effectiveness in a large, dynamic multinational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation, review, and timely filing of U.S. federal and state tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
  • Record, report and monitor the company's effective tax rate resulting from strategic tax planning and implementation of operationally efficient structures and policies.
  • Ensure compliance with ASC 740 (Accounting for Income Taxes) by leading the preparation and review of quarterly and annual tax provisions, coordinating closely with finance and accounting teams.
  • Manage compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley by ensuring adherence to internal controls within the global internal control framework.
  • Lead engagement and dialogue with external auditors in review of tax accounting process and control environment.
  • Conduct comprehensive tax research and analysis to provide insights and recommendations on structuring opportunities
  • Lead modeling and analysis of the impact of changing international and U.S. tax legislation on the company's tax position and financial outcomes. Synthesize that modeling to provide recommendations and alternative opportunities to management.
  • Provide expert tax support and due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, dispositions, and other corporate transactions, including structuring and integration from a tax perspective.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with finance, treasury, legal, controller's group and business units to integrate tax considerations into business decisions and financial reporting.
  • Build, mentor, develop, and lead a high-performing tax team, fostering professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Stay abreast of evolving tax laws, regulations, and accounting standards to proactively advise leadership and adapt tax strategies accordingly. Provide regular updates and counsel to the SVP and General Tax Counsel.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or advanced degree (e.g., Master's in Taxation or MBA) preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of progressive tax leadership experience in a multinational corporate environment.
  • Deep expertise in federal and state tax compliance, international tax, and ASC 740 tax accounting.
  • Proven experience supporting M&A transactions from a tax perspective.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in tax modeling and scenario analysis.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Superior communication skills, capable of influencing senior executives and collaborating across global teams.
  • Proficiency with tax compliance and provision software and advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex tax projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
