QA Bulk Unloading Processing Technician (2nd Shift, M-F 1:30p-10:00p)

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Bulk Unloading Technician to join our QA team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely unloading bulk materials-specifically hazardous materials-and ensuring compliance with all company quality standards. This is a physically demanding position that requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and the ability to work in diverse weather conditions.

This role is 2nd Shift - 1:30pm - 10:00pm

Job Duties and Key Responsibilities

  • Safely unload rail cars and tanker trucks containing hazardous materials in accordance with OSHA and company safety protocols.
  • Perform collection, documentation, and destruction of samples, along with physical, chemical, and microbiological testing of finished products and raw materials. Communicate effectively and thoroughly to management and peers on test results or inspection findings outside of specifications.
  • Conduct all laboratory testing with accuracy and integrity and ensures that it is accomplished in compliance with all federal, state, and company policies and procedures.
  • Keep accurate, complete, and legible records. Properly amend, identify, and file records, along with conducting clerical duties including copying, filing, faxing, data entry, and document reproduction.
  • Safely handle/use chemicals, biological agents, and waste. Potentially including hazardous materials. Read, understand, and maintain material safety data sheets.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on process equipment and monthly audits on various areas under laboratory control.
  • Utilize software including word processing, spreadsheets, and inventory control systems.
  • Set-up and calibrate test equipment.
  • Keep accurate Q.A. reports daily.
  • Operate cranes and related equipment to facilitate unloading processes.
  • Conduct quality testing of High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) from each railcar to verify it meets company specifications prior to batching.
  • Perform sensory evaluations (taste, odor, appearance) to ensure product quality.
  • Handle, connect, and disconnect large industrial hoses for material transfer.
  • Work at heights, including climbing ladders, as part of operational duties.
  • Perform physically demanding tasks in various indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Utilize industrial control systems, including iFIX and I.T.S. Mobile, to monitor, record, and manage operations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all unloading, testing, and inspection activities.

Education and Qualification

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Technical or trade school training in industrial operations or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Previous experience unloading bulk railcars/tankers and handling hazardous materials strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in operating cranes, pumps, and related unloading equipment.
  • Working knowledge of industrial control systems (iFIX, I.T.S. Mobile) and basic computer skills.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues.
  • Comfortable with physically intensive tasks, including lifting, climbing ladders, and working at heights or in confined spaces.
  • Willingness to work in a variety of weather conditions while adhering to all safety regulations.
  • Ability to perform sensory quality evaluations accurately.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance.
