Director, CPS Data Science

The Director, Data Science oversees the AI strategy for CPS focusing on strategic planning and delivery of value driven insights globally. This role combines hands on model development with team management and mentorship focusing on best-in-class predictive analytics. The role combines business problems and use cases with technology to optimize processes across the system.
What You'll Do for Us
- Create and refine AI architectures/models that enable statistical reporting, predictive analytics, and trend forecasting.
- Lead advanced data modeling efforts to enable on-demand service diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and improved operational efficiency.
- Identify and execute high-value data science projects that optimize performance, enhance reliability, and reduce total cost to serve.
- Use large datasets to uncover opportunities for product and process improvements.
- Mentor, coach, and allocate a team of data scientists, providing technical guidance and professional development opportunities.
- Partner with engineering, IT, and other cross-functional teams to ensure smooth integration and delivery of data science projects.
- Conduct root-cause analyses on field issues and translate findings into defined engineering actions.
- Stay informed on emerging technologies and data science principles, adapting new approaches to drive competitive advantage.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience leading data/analytics teams or complex data initiatives; experience in product analytics or large-scale operations is a plus.
- Demonstrated success in implementing and tuning ML workloads and building predictive models.
- Deep knowledge of distributed computing, big data architectures, and advanced analytics platforms.
- Proven experience in developing data solutions with Azure Data Services (e.g., Synapse, Databricks) or equivalent.
- Highly proficient in SQL, with hands-on experience in Spark, Delta Lake, R, Python, and Matlab.
- Experience designing and automating data pipelines (ADF, AutoSys, Control-M, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams through the full analytics product lifecycle-requirements gathering, prioritization, development, deployment, and continuous improvement.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Strong strategic and analytical mindset; able to persuade and influence senior leadership on data-driven decisions.
- Familiarity with DevOps/CI-CD principles, ensuring production-grade solutions that are scalable, robust, and easily monitored.
