Position Overview:

Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Sr. Information Technology Engineer to support proprietary programs in both El Segundo, CA and Seal Beach, CA.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Leads and coordinates the management, administration and analytics of requirements and verification, understanding of functional architectures and Concepts of Operations defining system of systems.

  • Leads and coordinates deployments of Model Based Engineering tools and integrations. Understand core competencies in Model Based Definition and Trade Study analysis.
  • Leads and coordinates integration of new technologies and the transition from legacy systems to support business requirements
  • Leads and coordinates development and deployment of new or revised processes in support of new computing systems, including documentation and training
  • Facilitates development of system integration strategies and architectures that promote use of common tools and processes.
  • Leads and guides integrated product teams throughout the product life cycle, integrating data across tools and providing analyses from multiple sources/tools.
  • Facilitates and supports systems engineering tasks associated with requirement decomposition, functional architecture/logical architecture, requirement traceability, and verification and validation of large complex systems.
  • Participates in peer reviews, support design reviews and other design-related activities

  • This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite that is required in closed areas in Seal Beach and El Segundo, CA.

    This position requires an active/current U.S. Security Clearance with a Tier 5 Investigation (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) that has been successfully completed by the federal government within the last 5 years or in a Continuous Evaluation/Continuous Vetting program for the T5/SSBI. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).

    Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree in an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
    • Experience with Data Analytics using DOORS, PLM and system engineering tools.
    • Experience developing business requirements for implementation in Information Technology systems
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience working with computing system suppliers to install and configure hardware and software components
    • Experience developing standards in a standards development organization (i.e. ANSI, ISO, IEC, AIA, etc. ) or a professional technical society (i.e. ASME, SAE, INCOSE, etc.)
    • 5+ years of work experience developing engineering processes, procedures, or methods for performing engineering work
    • Experience with engineering tools such as CAD, compilers, and configuration management
    • 5+ years of work experience with Git, GitLab, GitHub, or equivalent code management system
    • 5+ years of work experience integrating software utilizing scripting (i.e. Javascript, shell script, etc)
    • Functional Architecture - Knowledge of functional flow analysis, methodologies.
    • Working knowledge of VMWare, Horizon VDI, and NSX deployments
    • Basic Kubernetes and Docker/Rancher skills

    Typical Education/Experience:

    Typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
