Boeing Brazil is seeking a Senior Systems Safety Engineer reporting to the Safety and Airworthiness Manager, working out of the São José dos Campos office. Our team is actively engaged with airplane programs that currently include 737-10 MAX, 777-9, 777-8 Freighter, and future product development programs.

The Senior Systems Safety Engineer will be responsible to ensure airplane level safety analysis are appropriately conducted. Understanding the complex integration of airplane systems, human factors, and airplane integration into the operational environment are required in this role.

Our team works hard to build relationships with our customers across all of engineering and the programs. To do this we must be technically experienced, great communicators and a passion to learn more. We are involved in every aspect of designing and certifying our products and we focus on compliance, safety and product integrity.

Familiarity with ARP-4754, ARP-4761, safety analysis, and hazard assessments will greatly benefit you in this role.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Providing safety design and analysis expertise to program stakeholders and leadership.
  • Validating and verifying airplane level safety requirements.
  • Perform airplane level design trade studies, coordination of safety analyses and functional integration assessments.
  • Ensuring adequate redundancy and physical separation of critical systems.
  • Leading airplane level safety analyses like Runway Excursion or Airplane Common Mode to ensure integration across multiple functional systems.
  • Design and update safety processes according to the last industry standards, regulations, best practices, and lessons learned.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Must have existing rights to work in Brazil
  • Must have a degree in Engineering
  • Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA)
  • Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills in the English Language
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally
  • In depth experience with safety requirements, system safety analysis such as Risk Assessments, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), and system design or system integration

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):
  • Familiarity with FAR Part 25.1309, and industry practices like ARP 4761 & 4754
  • Familiarity working with FAA
  • Experience with certification plan
  • Experience with airplane level threat analyses (bird strike, rotor burst, cargo fire, tire and wheel failures, etc.)
