The Boeing Company is currently seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Global Data & Analytics team in either Hazelwood, MO; Arlington, VA; North Charleston, SC; Mesa, AZ or Seattle, WA.

The ideal candidate will have strong analytical and critical thinking skills, confidence and cross-functional team leadership, strong problem solving and communication, as well as a self-motivated and persuasive personality with a positive attitude.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Communicate effectively with the business teams to understand problems, business context, capture data needs and brainstorm possible solutions
  • Leverage Machine Learning (ML) techniques, including but not limited to neural networks, deep learning, transformers, and other advanced models to solve business problems using both unstructured and structured data sets
  • Lead cross-functional teams to define project objectives, scope, and methodologies, and contribute to project planning and execution
  • Leverage large language models (LLM) to build generative and conversational artificial intelligence (AI) solutions for specific Boeing problems
  • Develop novel algorithms and methodologies for tasks such as text classification, sentiment analysis, named entity recognition, machine translation, text generation, dialogue systems, and more
  • Leverage aircraft digital timeseries data, fault messages, performance reports and other unstructured maintenance data to build AI/ML models to predict aircraft component failure
  • Implement analytical models into production by collaborating with software and ML Ops teams
  • Design performance metrics for model selection and performance monitoring
  • Utilize advanced ML, Generative AI and statistical techniques to create high performing predictive algorithms that solve problems like forecasting, safety stock and pricing optimization
  • Stay current with the latest advancements in Generative AI, computer vision and emerging transformer based LLMs by actively participating in conferences, workshops, and relevant academic publications

This position is hybrid. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.

BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • 5+ years of experience in handling data and systems involving machine learning/predictive analytics
  • 5+ years of experience in programming languages including Python
  • 5+ years of experience with machine learning related open source libraries including, but not limited to: Hadoop, Spark, MLLib, SciKit-Learn, TensorFlow, Theano, etc.
  • 5+ years of experience teaching or explaining concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
  • 5+ years of experience producing both written and verbal technical communication
  • 5+ years of experience utilizing analytical and problem-solving skills to formulate research questions, design experiments, and interpret results

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work or military experience
  • 5+ years of experience leading technical data science teams in an enterprise environment
  • 5+ years of experience building AI/ML products in aerospace or manufacturing
  • 5+ years of experience with large-scale data processing, distributed computing, and cloud platforms
  • 5+ years of experience working in a fast paced, collaborative team environment
  • Experience in agile and product-oriented development
  • Experience and knowledge in DevOps and MLOps for Data Science
  • Experience in training or fine-tuning LLM (Large Language Model)
  • Experience in machine learning frameworks or libraries such as TensorFlow, Keras, PyTorch, etc.

Typical Education & Experience:

Typically, 9 or more years' related work experience or relevant military experience. Advanced degree (e.g. Bachelor, Master, etc.) preferred, but not required.

Relocation:

This position will be for first shift.

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.

Summary pay range: $135,150 - $195,500
