Boeing is seeking a Regional Sustainability Leader - Global Engagements and Partnership for METACA based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates or Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

We believe sustainability begins with a focus on environmental stewardship, social progress and inclusion, and values-based, transparent governance. Advancing environmental, social and governance (ESG) priorities is a focus for the company globally.

The role will be part of the Global Engagements and Partnerships (GEP) Team, reporting to the Regional Sustainability Director who is based in the United Kingdom. In addition, the role will be the sustainability leader within the Boeing Global leadership teams based throughout the METACA region.

The GEP team contributes to public policy advocacy and partnership development for the Company and is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and engaged professional to serve as a valuable contributor toward our public policy and partnership objectives in the field of Sustainable Aviation.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Strategy
  • Develop innovative country and regional strategies to advance our customers' (commercial and defence) and Boeing's sustainable aerospace goals, in accordance with regional, Governmental strategies.
  • These strategies should support the environmental, strategic, political and economic needs of the stakeholders involved.

2. Business Development
  • Develop unique business solutions with internal and external partners to execute the strategies described above.

3. Programme and Project Management
  • Leading and supporting the execution of initiatives with internal and external partners to safety, quality, time and cost performance criteria.

4. Policy
  • Track and analyze pending and existing regional and local legislation, news releases and public policy issues in the areas of aviation environmental and chemical policies, national climate policies, sustainability disclosure developments and the wider Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) space.
  • Partner with relevant colleagues around the globe to develop and advance an effective policy agenda.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to inform and guide the company position and resulting advocacy plans in order to best represent the interests of the company in the METACA region. Specifically, advocate for aviation climate policy, policies that support the scaling of Sustainability Aviation Fuels (SAF), regulatory frameworks that support multi-sectoral collaboration for energy transition (including, but not limited to renewables and hydrogen), as well as advocate for R&D opportunities.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with external institutional stakeholders, including government and non-governmental organizations, customer and supplier coalitions, business associations, and policy-oriented think tanks.Identify areas of mutual interest and strengthen the company position through a joint sphere of influence.

5. Partnerships
  • Collaborate with Boeing business units (commercial, defense and services) and relevant functions (e.g. Government Operations/Affairs, Safety and Regulatory Affairs, Enterprise Sustainability, Engineering, etc.) to understand and help advance their strategies, goals, and business activities through engagements in the Sustainability space.
  • Identify and help develop relevant external partnership and collaboration opportunities in the area of "sustainable aviation", with particular focus on SAF.
  • Build strategic cross-functional and cross-organizational partnerships internally to improve processes and develop innovative solutions together.

6 Positioning
  • Partner with the Communications function and others to help tell the exciting story of Boeing's track record and future ambition in the area of ESG.
  • Identify relevant forums to engage new audiences and to stimulate conversations around the progress made and work ahead toward further reducing aviation's carbon footprint.
  • Externally represent the company's sustainability commitment and interest by attending and speaking at conferences, on panels, and at industry (business, technology) expert workshops.

7. R&D
  • Support other Boeing units on aviation de-carbonisation R&D related issues, including but not limited to Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF);
  • Partner with relevant stakeholders around the globe to develop and advance Boeing sustainable aerospace R&D strategy.

BasicQualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Experience developing innovative country and regional strategies to advance sustainable aerospace goals, in accordance with business, partner, regional & Governmental strategies.
  • Experience of developing unique business solutions with internal and external partners to execute the strategies described above.
  • Leading and supporting the execution of initiatives with internal and external partners to safety, quality, time and cost performance criteria.
  • The selected successful candidate will have proven ability to engage and inspire multiple internal and external stakeholders to drive involvement and meaningful change on environmental, social, and governance topics.
  • The successful candidate will have a natural propensity to build relationships and strong business acumen to assess strengths and weaknesses of projects developed in the aviation sustainability space.
  • Above all, the selected successful candidate will be a team player with a passion for sustainability and enthusiasm forthe aviation industry.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher and typically more than 10 years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in sustainable development, public policy or a related field
  • Experienced in multi-tasking and working in a global team environment
  • Experience in leading, managing and delivering sustainability projects. Fluent in both written and verbal English
  • Work experience within the government, political organizations, think tanks, or other related roles
  • This position requires knowledge of and relationships with regulators, policy makers and industry partners in the area of Sustainability.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Masters or other relevant advanced degree or certification, including without limitation ESG/Sustainability
  • Experience developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with senior executives, customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners
  • Fluent in both written and verbal Arabic
  • Experience in government, government relations, and/or business development preferably in (but not limited to): Sustainability start-up, global regulator, Government, an Embassy, or Government Affairs office
  • Experience in aviation and environment sustainability
  • Ideally, the candidate will have worked in the field of climate policy and/or government and/or multi-stakeholders' organizations
  • Ideally, the candidate will have worked in the field of bioenergy, biofuels or related areas
  • This position requires knowledge of and relationships with key METACA regulators, policy makers and industry partners in the area of Sustainability.

Relocation:

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility.

This requisition is for an international, locally hired position in Dubai, United Arab Emirates or Riyadh in Saudi Arabia. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S.-based payroll and will commensurate with experience and qualifications and in accordance with applicable country law.
