The opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate security professional to lead a small program security team that supports a software and systems engineering workforce operating in a high security environment. The program security lead will be required to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure effective security management, security performance and security compliance of the facility, equipment and workforce. As program security lead, you will lead and maintain an appropriate program security culture; effectively manage and mitigate program security risks; develop and deliver security awareness programs and security training; conduct security investigations and briefings; and deliver knowledgeable security advice, support and guidance to meet the security needs of the program.

This role is based in Brisbane.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for all aspects of physical, personnel and information (including ICT) security for the program and its program-specific facility.
  • Ensure the access control, intruder detection, CCTV, key management and security identification systems operate effectively, efficiently and reliably.
  • Coordinate and contribute to all activities necessary to ensure ongoing facility security accreditation.
  • Develop, maintain and update security-related reports, report content, records, registers and logs.
  • Coordinate and administer visit requests, badging, site induction and physical escort of visitors.
  • Coordinate and participate in after-hours support and emergency response.

Experience/Qualifications
  • Formal Defence Security Officer and Security Risk Management training and experience
  • Suitability to work in a high security environment and ability to obtain, maintain and retain a high-level Australian Government security clearance
  • Capable of positively contributing to, and influencing the development and maintenance of an open, high-trust and low risk security culture
  • Capable of consistently and continuously leading by example with appropriate security behaviours and attitudes
  • Able to effectively engage, liaise and interact with a wide variety of stakeholders at varying levels of seniority
  • Knowledge and expertise in protection, storage, handling and transmission of classified information and material
  • Understanding of facility construction, building infrastructure, essential services and utilities and potential security implications
  • Understanding of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and potential security risks

Applicants must be Australian Citizens to meet Defence security requirements. This role requires the successful applicant to obtain an Australian Government POSITIVE VETTING Security Clearance. More information on the security clearance vetting process is available on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) website.
