Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) Phantom Works is seeking Loft Engineers for advanced aircraft development programs located in Hazelwood, MO.

Loft Moldline (ML) is the mathematical surface definition of vehicle external and internal contours from which the vehicle is analyzed, designed, and built. The Loft team interfaces with a multiple engineering disciplines and receives inputs from Systems Engineering, Configuration Design, Aerodynamics, Propulsion, Signature, Mission Systems, Structural Design, Stress and Loads, Crew Station, Manufacturing.

Position Responsibilities
  • Integrating vehicle-level requirements and assimilating into a surface geometry that satisfies all requirements and stakeholders
  • Modifying the Loft ML as required throughout the entire definition cycle
  • Developing additional surface geometry to support the Design and Fabrication of ML-related features of detail parts, including machined part flanges, inner ML of skins, pre-loaded part contours, and tooling extensions
  • Maintaining production Loft surface databases
  • Testing to validate/verify that Loft ML meets requirements and specifications

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Travel may be required up to 10% of the time; Domestically and/or Internationally depending on business needs

This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • An active U.S. Security Clearance in the past 24 months
  • Bachelors of Science (or greater) from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or other technical degree
  • The ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP)
  • Experience with 3D solid modeling software applications (e.g. NX, Catia, CADD)
  • Experience with Product Data Management tools/systems such as TeamCenter and ENOVIA

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Experience with Unigraphics (UG)
  • Loft Moldline development
  • Surface/Shape design
  • Detail oriented, analytical, and inquisitive
  • Experience with Full Size Determinant Assembly

Typical Education/Experience

Associate (Level 2)

Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Experienced (Level 3)

Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Senior (Level 4)

Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Summary pay range for Associate Level: $75,650 - $102,350

Summary pay range for Experienced Level: $90,100 - $121,900

Summary pay range for Senior Level: $113,050 - $152,950
