The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization is looking for a Mid-Level Product Repair/Mod Technician to support the Dynamic Commercial Crew Team at Kennedy Space Center, FL.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assembles, disassembles and/or modifies systems by changing, removing, replacing or upgrading aerospace vehicle components to correct failures or implement changes.

  • Oversees assembly, disassembly or overhaul.
  • Configures aerospace vehicles and bench test equipment.
  • Troubleshoots complex pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems to isolate mechanical or electrical faults and repair faulty components.
  • Performs validation/verification testing of systems and components.
  • Documents procedures and established processes to ensure contractual and regulatory compliance (e.g., repairs, test results, applicable modifications and inspection results). Inspects components and verifies repairs for flight worthiness requirements.
  • Oversees training.
  • Works under general direction.

  • This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

    This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility.

    This is a NASA safety-sensitive position and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

    This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

    Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
    • Experience in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)
    • Experience with orbital tube welding
    • Experience in manufacturing disciplines on spaceflight or aircraft systems (General Fabrication or Orbital welding)
    • Experience operating an automated welding machine that welds a variety of metals
    • General shop skills including Foreign Object and Debris (FOD) prevention, material handling, safety, calibration requirements, ESD, and contamination control of precision clean systems
    • Ability to work in a team environment
    • Experience with safety process and/or procedures in a manufacturing or operations environment
    • Ability to work across multiple shifts including second and third shift assignments
    • High School Diploma or equivalent
    • Manufacturing experience in human spaceflight, spaceflight, or aircraft hardware
    • Experience in Structural assembly with an emphasis on match drilling aluminum, titanium, and composite materials
    • Ability to pass an annual propellant and Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE) physical and training for both category I and IV SCAPE operations
    • Willing and able to work in a spacecraft shop floor environment, around work-stand platforms, while dressed in clean room garments for extended periods of time

    Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
    • Experience on human-rated spacecraft hardware.
    • Previous Boeing technical certifications and training in structural assembly.
    • Previous experience loading or de-servicing spacecraft commodities and use of Self Contained Atmospheric Protective Ensemble (SCAPE).
    • Experience in a clean room environment.
    • Previous experience manually tacking weld joints, with the GTAW weld process.
    • Prior training/education from an accredited welding institute/training center.

    Typical Education/Experience:

    High school diploma or GED and typically 4 or more years' related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Relocation:

    Summary pay range: $59,500 - $80,500
