The Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) organization is seeking ExperiencedSoftware Test Engineers (Level 3) to be part of our Mission Systems Software team in Tukwila, WA. This team which is part of the Mobility and Surveillance organization within BDS is a development and sustainment organization for Commercial Derivative Aircraft (CDA) such as E-3 AWACS, 767 AWACS, and 737 Airborne Early Warning & Control Aircraft and is hiring for the next generation product-line. These aircraft represent the world's standard for airborne early warning and control systems, filling the need for both command and control functions for tactical and air defense forces.

The next generation product-line is Open Mission Software (OMS) Battle Management Command & Control (BMC2) Software for CDA projects (AEWC, AWACS replacements). The BMC2 team develop mission software to integrate sensors, communication systems, self protect suites, weapon systems, data links, battle management tools, and other crew user interface functions for the CDA systems.

As a Software Engineer you will work with a team in a casual but professional environment where there is long-term potential for career growth into management or technical leadership positions. The optimal candidate works well with a team, has great communication skills, and is a self-starter. The selected team member enjoys working collaboratively with others, has a commitment to customer satisfaction and process improvement, and is successful working in a multi-contract/multi-program environment. This team member will support and may lead the development of solutions to a wide range of complex problems that require ingenuity and innovation, should be adaptable to new development environments, be eager to work with and learn new technologies and should be capable of leading a small software team to complete its mission.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Support the testing of Aircraft and/or Ground Systems or related software using Agile Testing principles
  • Participate in use case development for software requirements and test
  • Support unit and integration testing
  • Participate in peer reviews
  • Support system and flight testing
  • Assists/Develops and run both automated and manual test procedures
  • Documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
  • Selects, tailors and deploys processes and tools; establishes metrics.
  • Develops software verification plans, test procedures and test environments, executing the test procedures and documenting test results to ensure software system requirements are met
  • Works under general supervision.

This position allows some telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.
  • 5+ years of experience in C++ and/or Java programming languages.
  • Experience with Linux or Windows development environments.
  • Experience with or knowledge of Agile software development processes and use case development.
  • Usage of software development tools such as JIRA, GIT and Jenkins.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Knowledge of or experience with unmanned aerial vehicles and/or Mission Systems domain areas such as ground stations, data links, data/sensor fusion, human-machine interfaces.
  • Software certification knowledge.
  • Military System Domain knowledge related to integration of Sensors, Communications, Data Links, User displays.
  • Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry.

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. Note: Basic relocation will be offered for eligible internal candidates.

Summary pay range: 112,200.00 - 151,800.00
