An opportunity has arisen for a highly flexible and motivated DevOps developer for the Supply Chain Information Services (SCIS) programs platform team.

Provide technical expertise in Containerized Service delivery using DevOps methods and practices in a multi-site team.

They must be comfortable interacting with colleagues at all levels within the organization and be confident representing BDUK and teaming with the MOD and government partners.

A new and exciting requirement for a DevOps integration specialist. Primarily with technical experience of development using OpenShift, Ansible, Jira and Git toolset. Ideally with a shown experience in working on development projects. The successful candidate will be involved in the design, development, testing, implementation and support of associated components.

The individual will also perform analysis and resolve application performance issues in coordination with customers and other developers. Documenting processes and procedures and ensuring compliance with Boeing practices. The candidate will provide oversight as well as perform installations, deployments, upgrades, application migrations and infrastructure changes, ensuring detailed execution and continuous production. The position requires cross team coordination with tightly coupled development and architecture, infrastructure support teams, key suppliers, and other Boeing programs applying the same technologies.

Essential:
  • Experience with OpenShift is required or other Kubernetes based platforms.
  • Experience with Automation and Ansible is required.
  • DevOps or Agile experience.
  • Good UNIX scripting knowledge is required.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of Jenkins or similar CI/CD tools, Git and Jira.
  • Hands on experience developing JBOSS FUSE Java applications, with Spring Boot and Camel integration.
  • Knowledge of Oracle and Postgres Databases, with hands-on SQL and PL-SQL coding
  • Knowledge of working within the Defence sector would be a significant advantage.

The candidate must be willing to pick up additional responsibilities as the need arises. They must have a hard-working and hands on approach and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. They must be comfortable interacting with colleagues at all levels within the organization and be confident representing BDUK and teaming with the SCIS MOD partners. The role may require travel within the UK.

The current work location is Milton Keynes with some hybrid work available.

Education and Experience:

Applies extensive job practices, techniques, standards, principles, theories, and concepts. Has full knowledge of Application Development related subject areas. Provides technical solutions to complex problems that require resourcefulness and creativity. Exercises considerable latitude in resolving technical objectives of assignment. Guides the successful completion of the technical delivery aspects of major programs and may function in a project leadership role.
