The Opportunity

Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is looking for a Data Analytics Engineering Team Lead who will join the Engineering Strategy & Ops team, who are focused in creating Engineering excellence through diversity, culture, and strategic initiatives. This exciting role is responsible for leading a team in data analytics to delivering high-quality solutions to customers and stakeholders.

This role can be based at Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle or Melbourne.

As a Data Analytics Engineering Team Lead, you will
  • Lead a team of data analytics engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship.
  • Gather inputs from customers and stakeholders to understand their requirements and expectations.
  • Present high-level overviews of the team's work, progress, and future plans
  • Developing a strategy with the team that aligns with the current and future needs of the local business and the enterprise.
  • Lead the team in executing the strategy, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of solutions.
  • Monitor and track the team's progress, identifying and addressing any issues or obstacles.
  • Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in data analytics engineering, and apply relevant knowledge to enhance the team's capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as data scientists, software engineers, and product managers, to ensure seamless integration and delivery of solutions.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to senior management on the team's performance, achievements, and challenges.

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering, computer science, data science, or a related field.
  • Experience in leading and managing a team.
  • Understanding of data analytics concepts, tools, and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in developing and executing strategies based on customer needs and goals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • An excellent communicator who can engage and motivate diverse and geographically dispersed teams from various engineering disciplines
  • Highly organised and able to work autonomously
  • Skilled in leading through influence
