Boeing Commercial Airlines is seeking 1st and 2nd Shift Associate Machine and Sheet Metal Planners to support Fabrication operations in North Charleston, South Carolina (Building 88-30-Airport Campus). This role will involve working collaboratively with the internal Boeing South Carolina customer to support fabrication and/or assembly plans for emergent issue resolution. The selected candidate will be looked at for leadership and technical direction in a fast-paced, highly dynamic, emergent environment.

On-site support is required (limited opportunities to work virtually) in addition to rotating weekend support. This is a support function role and, as such, requires a helpful approach and a willingness to team cross-functionally to continuously improve the manufacturing process and our products.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Develops, implements and maintains various manufacturing plans, bill of materials, work instructions and illustrations to define and document as-built configuration.
  • Develops manufacturing concepts and strategies to support business objectives.
  • Develops and integrates suppliers, processes, materials, data and technology to meet manufacturing and delivery requirements.
  • Reviews and approves supplier data to ensure manufacturing related requirements are met.
  • Investigates and resolves fabrication related issues, using the Boeing Problem Solving Model (BPSM) and other techniques to address and document root cause and solutions to recurring production issues.
  • Performs producibility assessments for part or product designs, ensuring compliance to Boeing processes and minimal impact to the production system.
  • Develops integrated work statements and sequencing of events to support delivery commitments.
  • Drafts, updates and reviews processes and procedures to support business and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Advocate for implementing the One Boeing Production System (BPS) initiative.
  • Works under general direction.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
  • 1 or more years' experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • 1 or more years' experience utilizing professional/technical writing skills, teaming successfully to solve technical issues.
  • 1 or more years working in an engineering or production environment as a self-motivated contributor.
  • Ability to work weekends on a rotating schedule.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 3 or more years' of planning experience with Manufacturing/Assembly/Fabrication, preferably with Boeing.
  • Working knowledge of DCAC (PDM & CAPP), Velocity, and/or other planning computing systems.
  • Proven leadership ability in a technical team role and in cross-functional environments.
  • Knowledge of Hard Metal Fabrication and Post Processing.

Typical Education/Experience:
  • Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor, 3 years' related work experience, etc.)
