Boeing Brazil is seeking Associate Flight Controls Engineer, reporting to the Flight Control Manager, working out of the Sao Jose Dos Campos office.

The Associate Flight Controls Engineer will join the Flight Control System team supporting NASA X-66 Program. NASA X-66 is the next generation Experimental Aircraft aiming to achieve NASA's goal of net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The X-66 will test the Transonic Truss-Braced Wing (TTBW) airframe concept that, when combined with other advancements in propulsion systems, materials, and systems architecture, could result in less fuel consumption and reduced emissions when compared with today's best-in-class aircraft. The X-66 program will help shape the future of aviation, a new era where aircraft are greener, cleaner, and quieter.

The Associate Flight Controls Engineer position will join the X-66 program since the preliminary development stages and is expected to support the full program's lifecycle including preliminary design, systems architecture definition, systems integration, prototype production support, verification and validation, ground and flight testing of Primary or High Lift (secondary) flight controls.

This role requires technical knowledge of flight controls function, system development, and integration with other airplane teams such as Aero Stability and Control, Structures, Loads, Safety, Hydraulic power, etc. The team is responsible for the X-66 experimental aircraft flight control system design, development, integration, and verification in partnership with NASA.

Position Responsibilities:

• System architecture development with trade studies
• System level requirements development and allocation (including plans to validate and verify),
• System modeling and performance analysis (timing, accuracy, errors, tolerances, synchronization),
• System safety analysis (Failure Hazard Analysis, Failures Modes and Effects Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis)
• Design and modeling of system monitors and control functions
• Functional integration
• System level testing on an Integrated Test Vehicle

This position is hybrid / Telecommuting. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team's discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• Must have existing rights to work in Brazil
• Must have a degree in Engineering
• Must be registered or eligible to register with the Engineering and Agronomy Regional Council (Conselho Regional de Engenharia e Agronomia - CREA)
• Proficient in both verbal and written communications skills in the English Language
• Experience with systems development

Preferred Qualifications (Education/Experience):

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited course of study in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering
• Relevant experience with aeronautical systems development following ARP4754 standard
• Relevant experience with software development oversight following RTCA DO-178 standard
• Relevant experience with hardware development oversight following RTCA DO-254 standard
• Relevant experience with hardware qualification following RTCA DO-160 standard
• Relevant experience with sub-systems/equipment supplier's management and oversight
• Relevant experience with sub-systems/equipment testing at laboratory or rig environment
• Relevant experience using requirement management tools such as IBM Rational DOORS
• Knowledge in modeling and simulation using MATLAB/Simulink
• Relevant experience working within cross functional teams

Associate Level
Some experience working at industry/academia supporting engineering systems development at a junior role. The Associate engineer is expected to work under supervision of a more experienced engineer (e.g. a Mid-Level or Senior engineer).

Relocation:
