Job Description

The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking Mid-Level/Advanced Structural Liaison Engineer to join the Boeing Crew Space Transportation(CST)-100 Starliner spacecraft team located in Kennedy Space Center, FL.

The Starliner is a next-generation space capsule that will take people to and from low-Earth orbit.

Perform repair, rework, or acceptance of non-conforming conditions as identified in non-conformance reports (NCR). Disposition Supplier NCRs and coordinate with Supplier Management team. Support Program Material Review Board (PMRB), Design Engineering Change Board, and Integrated Product Team (IPT) mtgs. Improve manufacturing productivity through the authoring of "Fair Wear and Tear" and "Standard Repair" documents.

Position Responsibilities Include:
  • Familiarity with spacecraft and/or aircraft structural repair
  • May perform/collaborate-on evaluations involving safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other quality factors to ensure mission success

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • Willing and able to work in a spacecraft shop floor environment, around work-stand platforms, while dressed in clean room garments for extended periods of time.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Current UPR or MRB certification.
  • 5+ Experience using manufacturing tools (MESci, etc).
  • Experience working within a fast-paced team environment which required strong communication skills to frequently interact with Program Leadership, internal and external customer representatives and development teams

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree and typically 5 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 3 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.

This position requires the ability to obtain access to a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) facility. Access to the facility requires a background investigation by U.S. Government authorities.
