Senior Manager, Growth Strategy

AES Clean Energy (AES CE) is seeking a Senior Manager of Growth Strategy to lead AES's carbon free growth strategy within a regional U.S. electric market or possibly multiple markets. The specific market(s) will depend on your experience and AES' evolving need.

The role requires the ability to lead, innovate, and implement cross-functional strategic initiatives. In this role you will bring your experience in project development, offtake, policy, market rules and fundamentals, grid interconnection, financial analysis, existing and new technologies, etc. You will work closely with regional leads across development/commercial/policy etc., and senior management to drive us to a market-wide growth strategy.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Deeply understanding your regional market and its potential future scenarios. This understanding includes policy, regulations, commercial factors, interconnection, permitting, etc. In addition to understanding the market you will also be responsible for facilitating a shared awareness across relevant AES teams.
  • Leading the development of a market wide growth strategy, facilitating input across AES CE, and creating a unified growth strategy in your market. This includes gathering information, across internal and external sources and facilitating our team to reach a unified strategy plan for how AES can continue to lead and innovate across the market.
  • Presenting the market growth strategy to AES Senior Leadership and across AES CE.
  • Driving implementation of the agreed growth strategy plan, coordinating across Greenfield teams, M&A, Development, Commercial, Policy, and other AES teams for cohesive engagement.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key external market participants such as utilities, ISOs, PSC staff, policy makers, industry participants and groups, etc., with a focus toward future opportunities.
  • Analyzing and prioritizing new and innovative project opportunities. Then, driving high priority opportunities from concept into concrete early-stage projects.
  • Entrepreneurial vision, collaboration with experienced and hard-working colleagues, and extreme ownership for implementing pivotal initiatives and incubate early-stage non-traditional projects.
  • Minimal travel is required.

The role is well suited for someone who is both analytical and brings judgement based on a track record of practical experience.

The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $145,000 and $187,000/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements such as annual bonus, in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if a candidate receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
