Credit Risk Analyst

The Risk Management team is seeking a Credit Risk Analyst to join their group. This role will report to the Manager of Credit Risk and will be responsible for credit risk analysis, control, and reporting in AES Clean Energy. The candidate will support the quantitative aspects of measuring and supervising the credit risks associated with AES Clean Energy's renewable portfolio. This position will work closely with various functional teams across the AES CE organization and will play a meaningful role in the business buildout, operation, and future growth.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a thorough analysis of financial statements and assessment of credit requests, including new requests and ongoing portfolio monitoring.
  • Present analysis, findings, and recommendations to managers, especially findings that involve a borrower's ability to repay.
  • Provide recommendations tied to credit analysis and assessment of default risk.
  • Reconcile credit agreements with system data to identify discrepancies and variances.
  • Develop and prepare spreadsheets and models to support the analysis of new and existing credit applications.
  • Understanding of credit metrics and the associated likelihood of default for customers.
  • Tracking of credit limits and collateral postings for customer portfolio.
  • Negotiate credit agreements and provisions with external counterparties.
  • Provide analytical support for requests from Investor Relations, Finance, and Treasury teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to notice discrepancies in data.
  • Thorough understanding of financial statements, ratios, and concepts.
  • Participate in Risk Management Team meetings and provide reports to the Team.

Qualifications:

  • 1 to 3 years of strong quantitative experience.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in finance, accounting, or other business-related fields.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and general computer use.
  • Ability to effectively handle challenging deadlines for projects in a fast-paced work environment, with varying degrees of supervision.
  • Cross-functional interactions and ability to drive collective decision-making.
  • Able to manipulate, analyze, and visualize data.
