Manager/Associate Market Analysis

Job Summary:

The [Manager/Associate], Market Analysis is responsible for developing and maintaining a fundamental analysis-based view of the energy markets through both research and statistical and financial modeling for use in the evaluation and optimization of power generation assets. This position will also be responsible for providing data and analysis in various management and board reporting packages and presentations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitoring and aggregating relevant market data and information from sources including, but not limited to, ISO's, banks, consultants, government entities, industry providers and other third parties.
  • Working with other teams across the Tenaska organization, including Tenaska Power Services Tenaska Marketing Ventures, Development, and Capital Deployment to identify and track key industry metrics and information.
  • Assessing and organizing information gathered in a manner that can be efficiently accessed and utilized by Tenaska personnel.
  • Analyzing and evaluating information to contribute to strategic decision making and optimization of power generation assets. Communicating summaries of relevant market conditions upward within the organization
  • Strong understanding of deterministic and stochastic modeling, simulation, and optimization techniques
  • An excellent grasp of energy market economics is necessary.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by management.

Education/Experience/Skills

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, economics, or mathematics required plus 5+ years of energy market experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand commercial transactions associated with capacity, energy, and related commodity trading identifying key deliverables and ongoing obligations.
  • Strong knowledge of statistics, operation research and stochastic processes.
  • Reliable, dependable, and predictable attendance is required.
  • Expert skill at utilizing Microsoft Office tools including MS Access, MS Excel, and Power BI. Experience with Visual Basic and MS SQL is required.
  • Advanced knowledge and aptitude of statistics and statistical analysis required. Experience with using SAS/SPSS a plus.

  • Knowledge of data management software applications
