Job Overview

TE Connectivity's Quality and Reliability Engineering Teams analyze the ability of product and production systems to comply with customer and contractual requirements through established reliability factors. They design, recommend revisions and install quality control systems, develop and document analytical methods for establishing reliability of products and their components and conduct analysis on relative reliability with regards to cost, structure, weight, maintainability, facility of production, and availability of materials and equipment. Out teams develop, implement and monitor company environmental safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety regulations and recommend corrective actions if necessary. They are responsible for policies and practices to comply with applicable government regulations and industry requirements related to product environmental compliance, the implementation and management of technical and testing standards and specifications, quality control and reliability programs governing materials, product and processes, resulting in the optimization of material and labor, as well as failure analysis, root cause, corrective action and customer communication.

This role will be leading and managing a team of around 10 Quality Engineers alongside managing and supporting an inspection team (c. 6). You will be responsible for ensuring the Hastings site is adhering to all regulatory standards (for quality) and driving quality improvements across all our production areas. Hastings includes machining, moulding, plating and assembly meaning the Quality and Manufacturing Engineering teams can investigate and improve processes from Raw material right up to parts delivery. You'll be supported by the global TE function and have a real opportunity to make a difference at a growing site.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Plant Quality Management for an Aerospace, Defence and Marine Connectors site
  • Support and enhance the quality management system requirements of AS9100
  • Use lean management and process management to build on the quality system
  • Drive a culture of learning, continuous improvement and best practices to improve the effectiveness of the organization
  • Ensure the appropriate quality processes are in place and are effective to meet customer needs and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive improvements in quality performance to enhance the customer experience and to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the site quality system and product quality while ensuring compliance to governing regulations and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Define quality procedures in conjunction with M.E.; setting up and maintaining controls and documentation procedures; monitoring performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports.
  • Ensure appropriate leading KPIs are in place and are reacted to in a timely manner
  • Own leadership and guidance of site Quality teams on matters such as compliance and industry best practices
  • Lead the development of a strong customer-focused culture throughout the organization

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in Quality Assurance and control
  • Minimum 2 years experience in management role
  • Demonstrated experience in driving change using LEAN concepts, ensure there is a strong quality organisation in place to support the business and deliver global local objectives
  • Working knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma experience required, SSGB or SSBB preferred
  • Proven experience driving change across multiple functions
