Job Description:

Department Overview:

As part of the Culture and Talent Management team, the Talent Development team is accountable for the strategic development of high potential talent with the potential to progress to senior executive roles. The mandate of the team includes talent practices such as executive assessment, coaching and 360 assessments; top talent development programs; and targeted development supports such as career tracks and development planning.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Talent Development and working in collaboration with partners across Talent, HR and the businesses, the Manager, Specialized HR supports the accelerated development of our high potential leaders enterprise-wide, maintaining our function as the centre of excellence for external development programs at the Bank.

Job Description:

Specific accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

Strategy Development:

  • In collaboration with the Senior Manager, develop talent development strategy that connects various programs and practices in support of high potential development
  • Researches best practices in talent development, integrating insights from leading consulting firms, academic research and leading organizations
  • Furthers TD's reputation as a leading talent development organization by identifying opportunities for external recognition such as awards, conference presentations, etc.

Culture Integration & Facilitation:

  • Spanning the broader Talent Management team, identifies and tracks areas to integrate TD's new leadership principles, highlighting opportunities to shift culture and drive alignment
  • Provides ongoing program management for culture integration and creates metrics to evaluate adoption
  • Makes changes to existing leadership assessment materials to support integration of leadership principles
  • Facilitates career and team development sessions in support of adoption of leadership principles

Program Management:

  • Support of TD's top talent development programs which includes:
  • Support program design for executive development programs, including sourcing vendors, evaluating proposals and developing program roadmap
  • Builds internal solutions to integrate development programming in the internal TD context, for example by facilitating executive mentorship, integration of existing TD frameworks, and connection to career development planning
  • Invoice payment and tracking to support TD's development spend
  • Conduct post implementation reviews and program evaluations to provide better recommendations around program usage in support of our talent mandate
  • Complete program effectiveness review for programs and identify annual program enhancements in alignment with our talent strategy
  • Continual process realignment of existing programs in order to better support the business of HR and the development of our high potential leaders

Relationship Management:

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with existing vendors to bring their institutional knowledge back to TD in support of overall leadership development
  • Apply business acumen and HR expertise to develop solutions and provide strategic advice to our business partners; executing with excellence to proactively deliver integrated results
  • Act as a liaison with business partners in support of talent management programs and initiatives

Technical Skills:

  • Technical/systems knowledge or experience required including direct exposure to Microsoft Office products (Excel, Power BI, PowerPoint and Word) and SuccessFinder Assessment would be considered a strong asset.
  • Proven analytical capability and problem-solving skills

Qualifications/Skills/Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years HR and Talent Management experience, specifically with talent strategy development, leadership assessments, and facilitation considered an asset
  • Graduate level education in Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, or Organizational Behaviour considered an asset
  • Experience and confidence presenting to and interacting with senior executive audiences
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Proven analytical capability and problem-solving skills
  • High degree of personal integrity with an ability to maintain confidentiality and utilize discretion with working with sensitive executive information
  • Ensure high quality work and maintenance of standards within own area of responsibility
  • Very high attention to detail and high standards for precision in deliverables
  • Challenges the status quo to find new and creative solutions
  • Demonstrate a willingness and interest to further develop capabilities, particularly in Talent Management domain (including assessments, development approaches, succession management, etc.)

Education/Accreditations:

Post-secondary education and/or combination of relevant work experience
