Job Description:

The Manager, Indirect Tax position is part of the Indirect Tax Group within the Taxation Services of Finance reporting to the Head of Indirect Tax. We are welcoming a well-seasoned candidate who has demonstrated strong analytical skills in preparing for sales tax compliances in high complexity, as well as providing tax advisory and audit support to business areas and subsidiaries. The position is a subject matter expert for providing advice and guidance to internal customers on commodity tax issues and will be supported by our experienced tax teammates for their professional growth.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Responsible for the parent bank's Indirect Tax compliance


  • Generating tax reports and reviewing data trends with the purpose to mitigate indirect tax risks or identify opportunities for recovery


  • Executing the monthly, quarterly, and annual corporate accounting cycle for our indirect tax function


  • Managing incoming sales tax enquiries from different lines of business


  • Assisting in tax advisory projects by being involved in internal business calls, conducting tax research and facilitating meetings with external consultants


  • Collaborating within tax team to improve tax processes while complying to TDBG's internal control and governance policy


  • Building good rapports with colleagues within and outside of our Taxation Department


  • Participating in tax development training to stay up to date on sales taxes and other relevant topics
  • Other ad-hoc projects as required

Education/Accreditations

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or equivalent with professional accounting designation (i.e., CPA, ACCA, Undergraduate degree with Accounting Specialization or equivalent) desired

Other Qualifications/Skills/Experience

  • 5 years professional experience in Canadian Indirect Tax (candidates with previous Indirect Tax experiences in Financial Services are strongly preferred)


  • Advanced level working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications, especially in Microsoft Excel (i.e., Pivot table, Power Query, V-Lookup, etc)


  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on data analysis and problem solving


  • Having insatiable curiosity to develop in-depth tax knowledge and to understand the bank's operations


  • Demonstrates high level of accountability and ownership in their role
