Senior Manager Compensation - Europe and Asia Pacific (L11)

The Senior Manager Compensation provides expert advice and tailored solutions for TD businesses in Europe & Asia Pacific (EAP) on their respective strategy and business requirements. The role will act as the lead and expert on regional compensation governance oversight and strategic compensation advisory consultation and delivery. The role will interface with senior management, Human Resources teams and remuneration committees.

Job Description

Acts as regional lead and expert on European & Asia Pacific compensation governance and advisory activities, including the development, design and delivery of effective compensation plans, policies, programs, and advice in support of HR strategies and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Leads and executes end-to-end Compensation Advisory activities for all businesses in EAP in achieving
  • Strategic Alignment: provides strategic direction and manages complex individual compensation recommendations as well as project / plan-based review to align with business strategy.
  • Market Competitiveness: leads regional benchmarking, proactively identifies market trends and drives market intel required in ensuring compensation practices and levels are market competitive for talent attraction and retention.
  • Execution Excellence: drives the execution excellence in day-to-day compensation delivery and year end cycles. Expert in understanding the broader Bank and regional processes and nuances with integration complexities to deliver the outcomes effectively.
  • Thought Leadership: provides regional leadership in guiding staff; brings in best practices and creates strategic value through on-going compensation solution delivery; advances existing compensation practices and processes to elevate the impact of TD compensation programs.
  • Provides oversight and is accountable for Compensation Governance activities, including:
  • Regulatory submissions as required within EAP, including, but not limited to the establishment of practices and processes to support the PRA's Level 1 remuneration firm requirements, assembly of reports, and tracking of deliverables (i.e. Level 1 firm requirements, High Earners reporting, Material Risk Taker reporting, Pillar 3 disclosures, Gender Pay Gap reporting).
  • Regional remuneration committee material preparation and reporting for EAP including agenda planning, material preparation, management of timelines and input from multiple partners.
  • Remuneration policies, plans and procedures align with EAP regulatory requirements and expectations including ensuring plans, policies and procedures are updated to comply with changes to regulatory requirements and/or expectations.
  • EAP Material Risk Taker (MRT) and Key Personnel identification and end to end process accountability, including identification, list maintenance, updates, communication, compensation changes and recommendations, reporting and regulatory submission.
  • Maintains awareness of changing legal/regulatory requirements and competitive practices within the industry and consults with policy/process owners within HR and Enterprise Total Rewards to ensure compliance.
  • Lead the communications strategy and content for EAP compensation-related topics, liaising with Global Compensation teams as appropriate.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve processes, policies and supporting materials to increase their effectiveness for employees, people managers and HR partners while meeting compliance and business objectives.
  • Maintains a thorough understanding of the bank's strategic direction, ensuring alignment of business specific compensation programs with established enterprise total value principles and objectives.
  • Executes on diverse and complex policies, implements and develops activities and tools for businesses that support the people strategy and management activities.

Job Requirements

  • 12+ years of progressive compensation experience; experience in Capital Markets
  • In depth knowledge of European and UK remuneration regulations and experience with Tier 1 Remuneration requirements and delivery
  • Proven track record executing, administering, and designing competitive compensation programs
  • Proven management and leadership with strong stakeholdering skills to persuade and influence
  • Proven project management skills with an ability to provide oversight and coordination of multiple projects/changing priorities under tight timelines and with multiple stakeholders
  • Superior consulting and problem-solving skills with excellent judgment
  • Superb attention to detail and analytical skills with excellent written and verbal communication
  • Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as manage a team
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and complexity effectively in a fast pace, complex and highly matrixed organization
