Job Description:

The Corporate and Public Affairs (CAPA) department aims to inspire and connect our clients, communities and colleagues through communications, conversations and advocacy that enrich lives, deliver business outcomes and enhance our brand. We deliver best-in-class external and internal communications to help differentiate TD in the market and elevate our brand.

Role Overview:

We are looking for an experienced, professional event planner to lead planning and execution of key events for the office of the CEO. The successful candidate will play a central role leading projects from end-to-end, overseeing a team of event professionals and managing relationships with stakeholders internally and externally to deliver elevated, exceptional experiences.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and oversee details from proposals to planning and execution of events for the CEO, managing hospitality requirements including for meetings, conferences and receptions as assigned, driving impact and working as an extension of the CEO's Office, with flawless execution, attention to detail and judgement.
  • Partner effectively with CAPA teams supporting the CEO, including Operations and Program Management and Communications to ensure alignment.
  • Provide strategic advice to senior leaders, business partners and third parties to help shape and elevate events and deliver meaningful experiences.
  • Build strong relationships and partner with event venues to oversee all elements of externally hosted events.
  • Be the first point of contact to identify, raise and manage potential issues, solve challenges and opportunities to enhance collaboration and execution of events.
  • Manage budgets, vendor relationships and timelines to ensure all aspects of events are delivered with the highest level of execution and excellence.
  • Manage a team of event professionals, oversee event resourcing and staffing, and partner with local event teams across TD's footprint as required.

Desired qualifications and skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in event management, or comparable event planning experience.
  • Proven experience working effectively and efficiently with senior executives, partners, agencies, and vendors to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Strong relationships with external vendors, including hospitality, event production and dining venues in locations in Toronto and New York to shape proposals for receptions, external meetings and related events.
  • Excellent judgment and proven event experience, demonstrating flawless execution, strong judgement and exceptional time and project management.
  • Experience with technology platforms and virtual event management tools and capabilities.
  • Proven ability to navigate in a complex or ambiguous environment while managing multiple high-priority projects or deliverables.
  • Experience leading teams of events professionals.
  • Organizational awareness, resourcefulness and demonstrated relationship building skills - understanding of whom to engage to identify solutions and resolve issues.
  • Familiarity with accessibility, legal and compliance requirements for corporate events.
  • Undergraduate degree or event management certification, designations, or equivalent required.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
