Job Description:

The Head of Market Risk, Global Equity Derivatives Coverage, provides oversight of market risk for Equity Derivatives and is responsible for identifying key market risks and instituting appropriate risk metrics to assess these risks. This role maintains thorough understanding of all key risk and risk-related issues through continual review of risk reports/related data and dialogue with relevant parties.

  • Leads the team that provides oversight of market risk for all Equity risks globally.
  • Responsible for identifying key market risks and instituting appropriate risk metrics to assess and manage these risks.
  • Maintains thorough understanding of all key risk and risk-related issues through continual review of risk reports/related data and dialogue with relevant parties.
  • Establishes dialogue with TDS trading desks regarding current positions, key risks, market views and business strategies.
  • Establishes and maintains market risk policies and procedures governing how the business produces and manages market risk, including setting and approving risk limits.
  • Develops a thorough understanding of business strategies and key factors contributing to profitability.
  • Responsible for reporting and management of Equity risk, globally.
  • Brief senior management on key risks and works with trading desks on effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Regular engagement with global regulators, including OSFI & FRB.
  • Works closely with Product Control to understand drivers of P&L and analyzes desks performance.
  • Analyzes all key risk and capital related measures including VaR, FRTB etc. and works with desks to optimize capital.
  • Facilitates the design of appropriate stress tests and scenarios at asset class, business line and Firm level
  • Provides analysis and commentary of key market risks across stress and capital measures for senior management review.
  • Keeps abreast of new risk management techniques and industry literature.
  • Demonstrates governance, control and risk management behaviors in alignment with TD policies.
  • Effective business leader with experience leading high-impact and diverse teams.
  • Discretionary authority to approve outside of policy limits

  • Recommend market risk policy to VP, Head of Market Risk & Counterparty Analytics.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of industry and relevant experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent required
  • Masters in Mathematics, Science or Finance/Economics preferred
  • Expert market knowledge across Equities markets and businesses, globally
  • Experience in leading teams of subject matter experts across levels and geographies
  • Track record of effective talent management and development
  • Possesses quantitative expertise across a variety of domains
  • Expert at risk analysis and risk assessment
  • Have stature and creditability to provide effective challenge to risk takers and business heads
  • Collaborate with business partners to find appropriate solutions to market risk challenges
  • Demonstrate balanced judgment in making risk decisions
  • Is able to communicate risk decisions clearly and transparently
