Job Description:

Business/Department Overview
The QED team provides a full suite of quantitative development and risk management services to global fixed income Sales and Trading desks, playing a pivotal role in providing quantitative solutions and development.

The team has two core mandates:
1) Deliver top-tier quantitative and pricing tools for trading desks across the region.
2) Responsible for live development request coverage, providing fast and accurate pricing and hedging solutions.

This is a fast-paced and dynamic team who have grown rapidly in line with the Bank's overall growth strategy. The team has an increasing global mandate, focusing on improving efficiencies and providing better quantitative tools to Global Fixed Income desks. This is an exceptional opportunity to work on a globally recognized team.

The Main Responsibilities Are
• Fixed income markets and product knowledge (swap, bond, options) across regions.
• Hands-on experience working with traders and sales to provide quantitative solutions.
• Insights on how the valuation model and risk hedging work.
• Development and coding skills in C++, Python and VBA.
• Exposure to the Global Fixed Income team, including broader trading team, sales, analytics, and tech team.
• A deep understanding of Fixed Income valuation models and pricing tools will be achieved.

Make An Impact

• Design and implement front-office solutions and strategies to optimize trading operations.

• Develop machine learning applications and training algorithms to meet analytical needs of the business.

• Assist with QED C++ library, Python projects and VBA code reviewing and updating.
• Oversee trade allocation, pro-actively liaising with middle and back office to resolve issues and ensure a seamless end to end experience.
• Idea generation - assist in other areas that suit the associate's skill set and interest.

• Strong quantitative background with advanced mathematical and/or statistical ability
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Computational and programming skills (e.g., C++, Python, VBA, Java, etc....)
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can explain complex technical issues in everyday language.
• Strong time management skills with the ability to work independently when required.
• Fast learner who grasps new concepts and techniques quickly
• Desire to work in a caring, respectful, and inclusive environment where all employees are supported.

Educational Requirements

• Graduating between Spring 2026 and December 2026 from a graduate program in a quantitative field such as mathematics, computer science, statistics, economics, finance, physics, engineering, or similar.

Skills/Capabilities to be Developed
• Gain and understand how fixed income markets and pricing models work.
• Develop coding and technical skills in a real live environment setting.
• Improve research, data analytics and quantitative development skills.

Expected Outcome of a Fall Co-op
• Develop a strong foundational understanding of the TD's fixed income business models as well as hedging aspect.
• Gain broad exposure to the Canadian fixed income markets and products, and how the pricing and calculation works in the backend.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a relevant post-secondary program
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like C++ (VBA, Python, C# experience desirable).
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team.
  • Familiarity with basic stochastic interest rate models and data analysis.
