Team Overview:
The Business & Data Architecture team is a new greenfield build within Global Transaction Banking's Product Factory. The new Product Factory will comprise Product Strategy, Product Design and Development, Product Management, and Go-to-market activities for critical products and services TD will develop or enhance in coming years as well as manage existing capabilities currently in market and offered to existing transaction banking customers.
Position Overview:
We are seeking an accomplished leader to help establish and grow a Business Architecture team to enable TD's Transaction Banking transformation program. This leader will partner with Product, Operations, and Technology to ensure that our transformation program delivers measurable business outcomes and strong cross-business alignment.
As one of the first members of the team, you will help build and mature the Business & Data Architecture function from the ground up, shaping the way we think about strategic change and how the business is designed to deliver on its goals. The role will have three primary areas of responsibility: (1) translate strategy into executable action by clarifying what needs to change, where, and in what sequence, (2) define how the business should operate to deliver on its strategy, and (3) embed business architecture into transformation execution and governance. You will own and maintain capability models, value streams, and operating models to ensure transformation initiatives are grounded in a clear understanding of what the business needs to do and how to execute on that vision.

The ideal candidate is an accomplished leader with strong knowledge of Transaction Banking products, experience driving large enterprise transformation programs, and a solid understanding of Business Architecture concepts.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership
- Help build and lead a new Business Architecture function, establishing its operating model and value proposition across the organization
- Develop a high-performing team of business architects
- Become a trusted partner to senior business and technology executives, influencing strategy, investment decisions, and transformation priorities
Translate strategy into executable action by clarifying what needs to change, where, and in what sequence
- Understand and clarify business strategy through a shared language and vision
- Develop and maintain business architecture frameworks, models, and roadmaps to guide transformation investments
- Provide input on the sequencing of events, capabilities, and investments required to achieve the future/target state
- Assess capability maturity and their alignment to value streams, systems, applications, and data flows
Define how the business should operate to deliver on its strategy
- Act as a trusted advisor on operating model design and cross-business alignment
- Translate strategic objectives into an integrated operating model blueprint spanning capabilities, organization, process, and technology dimensions
Embed business architecture into transformation execution and governance
- Embed Business Architecture is embedded into transformation and investment governance
- Develop a small, high-impact team of business architects, leveraging federated partnerships across business domains
- Measure and communicate value through OKRs and KPIs
The Director, Global Transaction Banking, TD Securities is responsible for the development of the Banks USA Trade Finance business within the Global Transaction Services business and maximization of the profitability of the Trade Finance Sales business, while maintaining and enhancing the Banks profile and market share.
- Overall risk and management responsibility for the Trade Finance Sales team
- Provides guidance to members of the Trade Finance Sales team as appropriate
- Liaise closely with the Banks other operations in Canada, Europe, Asia Pacific and the U.S. to assist in meeting the Banks objectives, where applicable
- Observes strict adherence to the firm's procedures
- Understands and complies with TD Policies, regulatory and compliance requirements
- Ensures that transactions are fully documented and processed accurately and in a timely manner
- Expert knowledge of market data, economic information and key industry developments as well as regulatory standards at all times to assist in maximizing profitability through sound business decisions
- Position develops and maintains contacts with market participants
- Manages and supervises members of the Trade Finance Sales team
- Responsible for planning and authorizing the expenses and budgets for the team
- Responsible for managing the performance of the team by conducting objective performance appraisals on direct reports
- Full understanding and adherence to the Banks AML policies and procedures
- Ensures that all transactions are done within approved limits
- Required to demonstrate governance, control and risk management behaviors in alignment with TD policies and practices
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance
- 10+ years of experience in Business Architecture, product strategy, and large-scale enterprise transformation programs
- 10+ years of experience in Transaction Banking
- Proven track record in enabling large-scale transformation or modernization programs.
- Ability to thrive and create structure within an ambiguous startup-esque environment
- Strong understanding and experience implementing capability modeling, operating model design, and value stream thinking
- Excellent communication, and storytelling skills (visual and verbal)
