Job Description:
The AVP, PAL Architect GTB and Payments is responsible for the management of the GTB and Payments Architecture team. The AVP PAL Architect GTB and Payments and Architecture Team are responsible for working with partners to develop and maintain technology strategy in alignment to business strategies. Technology roadmaps are developed and maintain in alignment with technology strategy. The AVP PAL Architect GTB and Payments focuses on the strategy, design and evolution of effective, integrated, efficient banking technology applications from development to production in alignment with enterprise architecture. AVP PAL Architect GTB and Payments is accountable for creating a culture of innovation within GTB and Payments to add business value and drive competitive advantage. Through the fostering of ideas, the objective is to advance how we leverage technology advancements to improve our products, processes and services to our customers. Lead an organization of architects to provide direction in structure, design, technology and infrastructure, as part of the process of developing, customizing, integrating and maintaining systems for GTB and Payments. Provides solutions and technical architecture guidance and oversight to project delivery and system support teams as they develop and maintain client technology solutions. Fosters a culture of risk awareness, including the identification, maintenance and communication of technology solutions in relation to their technology lifecycle. Develop and maintain domain architecture for global payments, liquidity, cash management, and correspondent banking platforms. Define target-state architecture and transition roadmaps aligned with enterprise goals and regulatory mandates. Design reusable and modular services to support real-time payments, cross-border transactions, and ISO 20022 adoption.

Depth & Scope:
- Responsible for Solution Architecture service as required for a portfolio of projects across several delivery organizations
- Building Shared components and re-using the shared components according to Enterprise guidelines
- Thought leadership in overall execution of the GTB and Payments technology strategy
- Governance and advisory activities for projects as they are initiated by business requirements
- Expertise and counsel at a senior executive level to ensure technology teams and business areas understand the architectural options and technology choices in support of their business initiatives
- Assess viability/priority of projects/initiatives across a large portfolio of projects across several delivery organizations and ensure architecture issues are clearly communicated
- Research/analyze business requirements to evaluate and recommend optimal solutions within technology architecture
- Influence product direction and integrate technology from an architectural perspective within the business environment, and fulfill an IT governance role
- Apply industry/technical knowledge to provide solutions that increase business results and/or minimize risk
- Apply knowledge of business requirements and architecture to contribute to an architecture framework, including technology architecture strategy, policies, guiding principles, and standards to govern how technology solutions will be developed and implemented
- Support the development, documentation, communication and execution of a comprehensive strategy, policies and solutions.
- Software Delivery Lifecycle: strategy, requirements, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment; Experience in various delivery models ("software factory", offshore) and methods (agile, waterfall) and associated pros/cons Leveraging diverse influence levers in a way that nurtures relationships with peers, viewed by peers as a collaborative team member
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering / Computer Science or Equivalent, Master of Science in Engineering/Computer Science
- 10 years of experience in technology related positions with a Strong and proven track record and experience architecting application and technology solutions in a large-scale mission critical environment is required
- Experience with service oriented architectures, enterprise service bus technology, business process management, and/or document management is beneficial
- Ability to work in collaborative and matrixed environment
- Enterprise Architecture: Enterprise design patterns, multi-platform architectures, enterprise customer data management, enterprise architecture governance, Canadian and US integration needs and constraints, multiple delivery models (off-shore, outsourcing, SDLC); Ability to translate business concepts and strategy to technology imperatives and designs; Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF, Zachmann); Experience and proven track record in delivering enterprise class solutions
- Service Oriented Architecture: services architecture, service registry/catalog, ESB/middleware, patterns (pub/sub, scatter/gather); Understands key value drivers; Understands delivery approaches; Experience in architecting and delivering this type of solution
- Business Process Management: Workflow, task management, business rules management, document management, business activity monitoring, workforce fungibility; Understands value drivers; Understands delivery approaches; Experience in architecting and delivering this type of solution
- Operations Architecture: high-availability, reliability, operability, failover, disaster recovery, capacity/performance management; Understands value drivers; Understands delivery approaches; Experience in architecting and delivering of solutions that consider operations / availability
- Enterprise Data Architecture: customer identity and data management, operational data stores, data warehouses/mart, data distribution, data modeling, XML; Understands delivery approaches; Experience using (one or more of) DB2, Oracle, IMS; Experience in architecting and delivering this type of solution
- Integration Architecture: Messaging, queuing, transaction management, EIA tools; Understands value drivers; Understands delivery approaches; Experience in architecting and delivering of solutions that consider operations / availability. User Interface Architecture: browser-based development, mobile platforms, phone platforms, user interface patterns, event-based architectures; Understand key value drivers and role in enterprise architecture
