Associate - Global Markets Documentation

Department Overview

The Global Markets Documentation Team in Global Markets Transaction Management is an integral part of TD Securities. The group provides best-of-class service to business partners in TD Bank Financial Group (the Bank) through negotiation and execution of agreements that govern capital markets trading products. The team is committed to providing a seamless client experience while managing the bank's risk.

Job Description

The position will be responsible for providing best-of-class service to clients of TD Securities and internal business partners by preparing and negotiating legal documentation with global counterparties for trading products such as derivatives, foreign exchange and fixed income products, i.e. repo/securities lending agreements, ISDA Master Agreements, prime brokerage agreements, and related credit support documentation. The position must ensure that the Bank is adequately protected from legal, credit, business, and compliance risk in all of its trading documents; including master agreements, amendments, assignments and other legal documentation between the Bank and its counterparties. The position will also be required to build and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders across the bank and be available to service the deal flow with tight deadlines from global desks.

Job Requirements

  • Law degree.
  • Work experience in capital markets is preferable.
  • The candidate for this position will enjoy working on legal documentation, be able to effectively apply legal and sound risk management principles and display good drafting ability.
  • Work under tight deadlines and has the flexibility to support global time zones as required.
  • The candidate will be required to multi-task and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced trading environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good PC skills.
  • Utilize technology to track and monitor workflow and update databases with required information.
  • Produce reports and status updates as required.
  • Escalate issues proactively and in a timely manner.
  • Be a reliable source of reference to internal business partners.
  • Provide assistance to the team on a day to basis and working on ad hoc projects as may be required.

Supplementary Job Requirements

The Associate - Global Counter Credit is responsible for primary oversight, monitoring and reporting for the Convertible Arbitrage and Municipal Finance trading desks. The Associate will also provide backup oversight, monitoring and reporting for several other NY Trading desks. This position works closely with the trading desk and prepares Credit Management reporting to be distributed to senior management.

Depth & Scope:

  • Reviews and investigates trading excesses. Prepares daily excess reports and/or inventory reports
  • Reviews daily requests for trading lines and obtaining required approvals via CAIRO or email
  • Reviews daily ratings alerts and notification of Borrower Risk Rating upgrades / downgrades and prepares CAIRO credit reviews to reflect rating changes
  • Maintains internal Credit Management trading line logs
  • Prepares monthly reports
  • Maintains required documentation for internal audit
  • Prepares other related materials as required
  • Ensures backups for monitoring and control function for the Loan/High Yield Sales and Trading and Cross Asset Trading portfolios are complete
  • Maintains required documentation for internal audit
  • Demonstrates governance, control and risk management behaviors in alignment with TD policies and practices

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business (Accounting or Finance) or Mathematics/Economics
