The Pricing Analytics team is dedicated to leveraging advanced data analytics to develop sophisticated predictive models that drive strategic decision-making across all phases of the Property and Casualty Insurance lifecycle. Our mission is to optimize risk selection and maintain market leadership through data-driven insights and innovative solutions.

Job Description

As an Applied Machine Learning Scientist working within the Pricing Analytics team, you will collaborate with actuaries, data scientists and applied machine learning scientists in delivering cutting-edge analytical solutions alongside the TDI Pricing team. You will contribute to designing and implementing end-to-end machine learning solutions, from data preprocessing and feature engineering to model architecture design and inference pipeline development. In this role, you will help challenge conventional approaches and participate in reframing business problems through an innovative lens. You will support the team in leveraging cutting-edge methodologies and technologies to transform traditional insurance use cases into breakthrough solutions.

Key Accountabilities

  • Design, develop, and implement machine learning models and algorithms to solve complex business problems
  • Take new perspectives on existing solutions, independently perform tasks from end to end to deliver quality results and meet timelines.
  • Provide expertise on mathematical concepts for the broader analytics team and inspire the adoption of advanced analytics and machine learning across the organization.
  • Conduct internal research projects; support the development/ delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience.
  • Provide thought leadership and/ or industry knowledge for own area of expertise in own area and participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business unit.
  • Keep current on emerging trends/ developments and grow knowledge of the business, related tools and techniques.
  • Work autonomously and is accountable for sound knowledge in a given AI/ML area and of various AI/ML frameworks, tools, processes and procedures, as well as organization issues, best practices and business/organization standards.

Job Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree required, advanced technical degree preferred (e.g., math, physics, engineering, finance or computer science) Graduate's degree preferred with either progressive project work experience.
  • 2+ years work experience in an industry setting
  • Excellent programming skills, preferably python. Knowledge of lower-level languages is a plus.
  • Deep understanding of a broad spectrum of modern machine learning techniques and their practical applications
  • Sound knowledge of applications, systems, innovation, design activities and best practices
  • Advanced analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Client-focused and aptitude for teamwork
  • Outstanding communication skills with ability to articulate complex technical concepts to varied audiences, from technical teams to senior leadership
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Autonomous and perseverant; shows initiative and creativity in their work
  • Recognized for their thoroughness and the quality of their work

Prefered Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree required, advanced technical degree preferred (e.g., math, physics, engineering, finance or computer science) Graduate's degree preferred with either progressive project work experience.
  • 2 years + work experience in the industry
  • Experience with Generative AI or insurance pricing models would be a plus
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Knowledge of modern data architecture and big data technologies (Databricks, Snowflake, Spark, etc.)
