About the Job:
The Director, Quality Engineering, oversees the direction, resourcing, and day-to-day technology quality engineering at Taco Bell, including the Agile software quality practices. They directly manage and supervise Technology Quality Engineering team within Taco Bell as well as contracted outsourced quality services, both onshore and offshore. With this role, the opportunities are endless: the team under Director’s leadership are involved in eCommerce, 3rd party delivery services, all Restaurant systems (POS, Kitchen Management software), both hardware and software. All these products have quality teams, and the team leads report to this role.
The Day-to-Day:
- Lead quality engineering planning, reviews aimed at ensuring the quality of products in DevOps pipeline. Quality organization is responsible for ensuring stable operations in our restaurants and QE Director is accountable for setting the goals and ensuring standards are set.
- Ensure continuous process improvement, including test automation targets are established and met, report overall state of quality engineering to Technology Leadership Team
- Report directly to VP of Engineering, ensuring that Quality Engineering practice fits within overall Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Lead the team of quality engineering leads, be responsible for all hiring and staffing decisions, make decisions on appropriate resource allocations, including FTE to Contractors and onshore to offshore ratios.
- Oversee delivery of quality engineering workstream of all technology implementations in Taco Bell’s portfolio, including the industry-leading VoiceAI, Robotics in the Kitchen, Delivery Optimization, Mobile App, and other projects as defined in the Annual Operating Plan
Is This You?
- BS (MS is a plus) in Computer Science or related Field
- 10+ years leading and managing Software Engineering, architecture, and software development teams
- 5+ years software development experience (including quality engineering)
- In depth knowledge of systems, agile software development
- Proven experience in a leadership capacity within an engineering or IT organization
- Proven experience leading engineering teams or individuals in highly critical capacities and situations.
- Experience in managing finding, training, onboarding, and the development of QE resources

Salary Range: $161,000 to $215,000 annually + bonus eligibility + benefits
