About the role

Software engineer will be responsible for helping to build, optimize, drive enhancements, and maintain mission critical applications that allow Finance IT to proactively manage business processes. This individual, working under minimal general supervision as an individual contributor, will be expected to partner with others in designing and estimating development efforts based on high level requirements; to evaluate functional and technical problems; and work effectively with business and technical subject matter experts, other developers, systems analysts, quality assurance analysts and third-party vendors ensuring that deliverables are met.

What you'll do

  • Design and document system integration/configuration as required. Plan and coordinate movement of code between various technical environments, and participate in large system implementations. Accurately estimate and deliver assigned tasks.
  • Provide day to day production support. Perform urgent problem resolution, including 24x7 on call support.
  • Analyze functional application design and develop/test detailed programs for complex components. Participate in requirements definition, design walkthroughs, and code reviews.
  • Utilize appropriate application development tools and methodologies.

Compensation

Salary Range: $80,500 - $134,200 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Requirements

Your skills and experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other related field. Equivalent work experience may be accepted.
  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years of development experience in relevant technologies/systems required.
  • Working knowledge of finance and accounting systems within the insurance industry.
  • Technical understanding of relevant technologies and systems, such as client/server, backend persistent storage, and cloud technologies(AWS preferred).
  • Used to meeting deadlines and delivering high quality results.
  • Experience with SDF development methodologies, Waterfall and Agile.
  • Accountability and ownership of technical design and work output.
  • Adaptability, including dealing effectively with ambiguity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with various levels of IT management.
  • Working knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming, .Net, C# and Python within the AWS environment.
  • Important to have current experience with data storage fundamentals, security foundation, cloud-specific patterns, networking, etc.
