Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as a FinOps Analyst!

About the role

As a FinOps Analyst, you will be a key part of the team driving technology evolution at a thriving financial services business seeking to create a world where more people have access to financial freedom.

The FinOps Analyst will be a catalyst, ensuring we deliver autonomy to makers and build a culture of accountability to accelerate the creation of business value. You will do this while maintaining a close eye on cloud spend and budget through accurate reporting, analytics, consulting, and creative problem-solving. You will work closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, Technical Product Managers and Finance to analyze cloud spend, identify, and deliver cost optimization, define key measurements and follow-through.

  • Drive business value by enabling engineering, finance, and business teams to collaborate on data-driven spend decisions.
  • Promote ownership and accountability for cloud spend
  • Define and deliver timely, accessible metrics

  • Help the organization capitalized on variable cost model of cloud
  • Drive patterns and practices within governance framework

Compensation

Salary Range: $88,600 - $147,600 plus eligibility for the company annual bonus program.

Requirements

Your education, experience, and skills

  • Bachelors degree in technology or business related field
  • 2-4 years of cloud economics, cloud finance or FinOps adoption work
  • FinOps Practitioner or ability to become certified w/in six months
  • Extensive knowledge of AWS account structures and resource tagging
  • Extensive experience with proprietary and 3rd party public cloud cost management and advisory tools (AWS Cost Explorer, QuickSight, Trusted Advisor, CloudHealth etc.)
  • Experience with data analysis and data visualization tools (AWS QuickSight, PowerBI, etc.)
  • Ability to bridge between finance and technology
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills to effectively collaborate with key stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
