Symetra has an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Actuary II!

About the role

Retirement Actuarial financial reporting is looking for an Actuary II-III with experience in PolySystems who can take on a versatile role of special projects, review of PolySystems modeling, and/or regular quarterly results review. This position requires an individual who can understand the details of the modeling while also being able to identify the most important projects. You will have communication with senior leadership and possibly executive management. In the future, you may supervise a small actuarial team of analysts and actuarial students.

  • Leads special projects related to PolySystems and Annuities Financial Reporting
  • Responsible for actuarial reports, projects, and analysis.
  • Improves processes and creates efficiencies with reporting, documentation, and transparency.
  • May assist with division and actuarial team strategy.
  • Approximately 30% of time spent on recurring duties, 40% on project related work, and 30% management related duties including reviewing work and developing employees.

Compensation

Salary Range: $117,900 - $196,500 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Requirements

Your education, experience and skills

  • Finished with actuarial exams (FSA), or career ASAs with 15+ yrs. exp and strong performance
  • Experience with PolySystems
  • Good communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of actuarial concepts and assumptions used for modeling and financial reporting
  • Demonstrates this depth with quality advice and recommendations
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage junior actuaries
  • Ability to solve complex actuarial problems independently in a multi-dimensional context
  • Significant knowledge of insurance/products and the industry
  • Experienced in a variety of company, industry, and regulatory actuarial issues
  • Commitment to professional development
