Symetra has an exciting new opportunity to join our team as an Actuarial Associate III!

About the role

As the Actuarial Associate III, you will be focused on pricing and profitability in the Retirement Annuity Actuarial Pricing group. You will be working on an agile team focused on creating value for Symetra and our policyholders with our DA, FIA, and RILA products. The work you will do is highly visible throughout the company and a major driver of sustainable annual growth. You will be joining a team that is dedicated to modernization using automation, SQL, Python, and other tools.

What you will do in this role

  • Support the pricing of new annuity products including modeling and risk analysis
  • Monitor the profitability of sales over the last 12 months
  • Support rate setting for new business and annual renewals
  • Take a leadership role for reoccurring projects
  • Support actuarial model maintenance as needed
  • Drive value enhancement efforts via automation and new technologies
  • Continue to develop industry knowledge with a focus on annuities
  • Participation in the Actuarial Student program to pass actuarial exams and achieve your actuarial designation

Compensation

Salary Range: $88,600-$147,600 plus eligibility for annual bonus program

Requirements

Your education, experience and skills

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with strong quantitative background
  • 3 - 5 years of insurance related actuarial experience
  • Successfully completed 5 - 7 actuarial exams
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Python, SQL, and/or Power BI experience
  • Experience in actuarial modeling software is a plus (MG-ALFA preferred)
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with others including management of projects or people
  • Strong communication skills
  • Significant ability to work independently
  • Committed to personal growth and continued learning of actuarial concepts
