Summary - Purpose of Position

The IT Manager Business to Consumer, Connected Vehicle, Information Technology is responsible for the design, development and support of Subaru's business-to-consumer Connected Vehicle (telematics) technologies. This position leads a team that provides services supporting Connected Vehicle technologies in the US and Canada with plans to expand into more international markets in the coming years. This person will support Subaru's objective to bring exceptional digital experiences to our customers.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Connected Vehicle Business to Consumer Strategy Roadmap Development - work with manager, peers, internal and external partners to establish strategic direction and actionable roadmap for business to consumer connected vehicle services. Currently includes consumer facing mobile and web applications.

  • Connected Vehicle Product Development - collaborate with internal and external partners to design, develop and support business to consumer connected vehicle services. Key focus on standards development, speed to market and user experience.
  • Budget Management -develop the annual business plan and operating budget for connected vehicle business to consumer technology. Includes monitoring spend, allocating resources and adjusting forecast as necessary to ensure that the financial targets are met.
  • Team Leadership - provide leadership to and work daily with direct reports, contract resources and vendor partners to deliver project objectives, manage day to day operations and overcome obstacles that jeopardize service quality
  • Team Management - provide and manage development plans, training opportunities, goal setting for the team in a manner that enables Subaru's goal of attracting and retaining talent
  • Subaru Collaboration - represent the Connected Vehicle Business to Consumer team to Subaru of America counterparts, communicating key activities and risks while alleviating team challenges
  • Vendor Management - ensure SLA adherence, engage in discovery of solutions, participate in RFP and RFQ processes and partner with legal counsel on contracts
  • Service Management - negotiate service level agreements with service providers as well as internal and external partners while monitoring service delivery to ensure that targets and standards are met
Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or a related field
  • Work experience with increasing responsibility and demonstrable leadership success
  • Deep working knowledge of all aspects of Mobile App Development
  • Experience managing software development engineers and leading engineering projects
  • 5+ years of iOS/Android platform experience and App Store Management
  • Excellent communication skills and proficiency in presenting complex topics to different audiences
  • Time management and ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously
  • Team or project based budget management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a team dynamic and manage, develop and mentor personnel
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and achieve cohesion among different individuals and functions
  • Ability to easily break down complex, ambiguous problems and propose novel solutions
Additional Preferred Skills
  • Experience developing and leading Telematics or Connected Vehicle business to consumer technologies
  • Experience developing and maintaining consumer facing mobile and web applications
  • Experience working in the automotive industry
  • Smart device interactions (Voice and Watch)
  • California Consumer Protection Act (CCPA)
  • Web Accessibility Standards (WCAG Level AA)
  • Agile product management or corporate development experience
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degrees

  • 4 Year College Degree (BA, BS)
