Stryker seeks a Staff Quality Engineer, 3rd Party Logistics to support the Global Logistics Operations Quality Assurance Team (GLO QA) at our Central Distribution Centers in Plainfield, IN. The successful candidate will offer quality leadership for 3PL Quality in distribution centers and other local business functions. They will champion and execute initiatives to improve quality performance, providing mentorship and technical guidance across multiple areas of expertise. The role involves ensuring compliance with regulations and standards, functioning as an individual contributor in a hybrid capacity, requiring independent work with minimal supervision. Professional expertise and practical experience are essential, enabling the application of principles and concepts to address issues with attention to detail in evaluative judgements based on factual analysis.

Workplace Flexibility: Candidate must reside within a commutable

distance to Plainfield, IN but is expected to be onsite at the facility 3-4 days/week.

What You Will Do:

The Staff Quality Engineer 3 PL role is to implement a unified approach to quality in 3PL partners with the intent to deliver high quality products and services in a manner that meets the high standards held by Stryker. The ideal candidate will build and leverage cross-functional relationships to bring together ideas, information and industry analyses to develop best practices.

  • Will work with the 3PL quality team, under minimal supervision, with responsibility for quality related activities, including, but not limited to the following:
  • Work closely with business functions assess, provide oversight and direction on quality performance of product and processes.
  • Mentors, provides oversight and approval of NC & CAPA, activist and high level expert in problem solving and root causing activities.
  • Coach and mentor the 3PL quality team in quality topics and activities, with several topics at expert level.
  • Leads / Manages quality initiatives / projects at local level.
  • Recognized process owner in areas of expertise. Expertise across multiple areas from the following, problem solving, risk, concession & change management, lean, six sigma, CAPA, statistics, validation, inspection processes & sampling etc.
  • Input into local processes, a representative on review & discussion boards and teams for expert and valued input.
  • Interpret KPI trends, take action as necessary, driving a continuous improvement process.
  • Aids in the development of quality strategies.
  • Support/ Leads manufacturing transfers to other plants/facilities, leading quality activities.
  • Responsible for initiation, management and support of ship, product Holds, potential product escapes.
  • Address and resolve supplier quality issues impacting daily operations.
  • Working knowledge of basic and advanced Quality tools such as; Six Sigma, SPC, FMEA, Control Plans, Root Cause Analysis, Poke Yoke, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing etc.
  • Executes/ Masters & implements/ improve all supplier quality tools/ Processes. Trains supplier in these tools effectively.
  • Ownership for site quality performance and measurement including KPI's and participate in supplier performance reviews.
  • Support quality issues with site & partner with Internal Customers; Lead effective supplier containment and corrections/corrective actions
  • Ensuring compliance to Supplier Control activities identified by organization.

What You Will Need:

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science or Engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of professional experience in an engineering role with a strong knowledge of Quality Concepts (e.g. Risk Management, CAPA, Audits, Statistics).

Preferred:

  • Master's of Science or Engineering preferred
  • Medical Device/ Bio-tech industry experience preferred
  • Must possess strong communication, project management and influencing skills as well as have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, written, oral communication and negotiations skills.
  • Highly developed problem-solving skills. Strong analytical skills.
  • Six Sigma Green or Black belt preferred.
  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 and experience in interacting with regulatory agencies (FDA, BSI, etc.) desired.
  • Understanding of US and International Medical Device Regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and complete projects in a matrix organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in working in a compliance risk situation
