Position Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Compliance Operations works with other Compliance professionals and is responsible for the oversight, development and implementation of an effective compliance program. This position is responsible for the planning and timely completion of tasks and responsibilities which support ethical and compliant business practices within scope of the role. These responsibilities may encompass a broad range of areas related to Compliance to include, but not be limited to: transparency, training, communications, health care professional interactions, grants and donations, indirect sales channels, issues/investigations, high-risk third-party vendors, risk management, auditing and monitoring. This role may also support the broader global/APAC projects as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (including but not limited)

  • Collaborates with the global Compliance Systems and Operations in the assistance of the creation of the annual global Compliance Department operational plan by providing local insight
  • Oversee the development and implementation of global initiatives/processes to meet operational requirements, informed by global and local requirements
  • Partner with Compliance team members and other stakeholders to support the strategy through appropriate processes development and execution
  • Manage key Compliance activities (e.g., ethics hotline insights, transparency, annual certifications) and ensure timely and accurate reporting where applicable
  • Lead or assist to conduct investigation and case reporting into system (e.g. Navex/Convercent) in collaboration with regional investigation personnel, local compliance BP and other relevant stakeholders
  • Provide feedback to the improvement of compliance training material by using key learnings derived from any given investigation
  • Oversee Compliance departmental document repository e.g. SharePoint and teams structure to support an effective department document management strategy
  • Lead departmental projects; responsible for aspects of program management (e.g., charters, timelines, resources) and change management
  • Contribute to budget and forecasting needs; ensure responsible spending and tracking
  • Consistently analyze processes, track best practices, and provide recommendations and insight to increase efficiency and effectiveness of processes, systems, and technology
  • Identify, select, and manage external vendor relationships as needed
  • Exercise independent judgment to make decisions of significant impact to the company
  • Develop strong relationships throughout multiple businesses and regions to foster a consistent and collaborative approach to proactive compliance
  • Maintaining a high level of knowledge of current and emerging laws and regulations, and periodically reviews and updates standards relating to compliance. These include, but are not limited to Stryker Corporate Policies and Procedures, industry trends and guidance on country, state/provincial or local laws. Establish a strong tone at the top and further the department's strategic priorities
  • Demonstrate well-developed ability to identify issues, engage appropriate stakeholders, complete root cause analysis, and assess effectiveness of solution within area of responsibility
  • Raise awareness of the program and foster accountability for ethics and integrity
  • Champion a proactive approach to Compliance focused on partnership, prevention, and risk mitigation

Education & Special Trainings:

B.A. or B.S from accredited university required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of work experience in relevant field required
  • Demonstrates knowledge and clear understanding of the required elements of effective Compliance programs and relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards
  • Demonstrates expertise in applying external requirements to key activities and processes
  • Demonstrates experience developing and leading large-scale, global initiatives
  • Project Management experience with one or more methodologies/frameworks
  • Possesses good leadership and influencing skills
  • Demonstrates high level of professionalism and executive presence
  • Able to initiate, embrace and support change in a dynamic and complex environment
  • Oversees complex diverse work of significant impact to the organization
  • Well-developed ability to show discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Well-developed understanding of business financials and reporting and ability to effectively allocate resources for maximum impact
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Knowledge and experience in building team effectiveness
  • Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
