Stryker is hiring a Service Quality Engineer (Hybrid) located in San Jose, CA, for our Commercial Operations -Service team! The role of the Service Quality Engineer involves sustaining Service processes, encompassing tasks such as creating, modifying, enhancing, implementing, and upholding quality and manufacturing standards and equipment. This role is essential in enabling the Service Depot to effectively diagnose, repair, or refurbish medical devices or their components. Additionally, this role drives improvements, enhancing Quality, Cost, and Speed of repair processes with the implementation of lean manufacturing principles in the Service business.

Workplace Flexibility: Hybrid. This role requires reasonable proximity to our Stryker facility in San Jose, CA. You should be comfortable working 3 days onsite. You will be asked to be onsite more frequently during the first few months for training.

What you will do:

  • Support day-to-day Service operations and addressing line requests by acting as Subject Matter Expert for Quality and Manufacturing standards to ensure compliance and high-quality performance of Service processes.
  • Maintain KPIs for monitoring of process and/or product quality, perform analysis, and interpret trends, identifying and activating on appropriate actions as necessary.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers and in-house teams to improve Quality, reduce cost, and increase efficiency and effectiveness of Service processes.
  • Own, maintain and improve Service line(s) layout, setup, configuration, and fixturing.
  • Own internal and supplier non-conformances and manage the timely disposition and closure of NCRs/NCs Own or support identified internal CAPAs and manage to timely root cause investigation, implementation, and closure.
  • Communicate/collaborate with suppliers regarding non-conformances, escalating supplier corrective actions requested as required.
  • Engage in the development and improvement of Service processes for existing products.
  • Assess and implement internal and supplier proposed changes. Performs PPAP activities for supplier changes.
  • Plan and execute equipment/process validation and reporting.

What you will need:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science or Engineering Degree is required.
  • 0+ years of experience working in a regulated environment.

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated mechanical/electrical problem-solving skills.
  • Electrical background desired.
  • QE or equivalent course work / experience is desirable.
  • Preferred to have knowledge of applicable domestic and international regulations and quality system standards - FDA QSR, MDD, ISO13485, ISO9001, etc.
  • Lean Six Sigma or other problem-solving methodologies is a distinct advantage.
  • Previous experience in a regulated environment desirable.
  • Proficient in understanding of Medical Device manufacturing processes is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS Visio, and MS PowerPoint.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • Minitab experience is preferred.

$87,600.00 - $136,200.00 USD salary plus bonus eligible + Benefits (Health, Vision, Dental, 401K, Tuition Reimbursement, Employee Assistance Program, Wellbeing Program, Employee Stock Purchase Program). This information reflects the anticipated salary range for this position based on current national data. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
