Position summary:

This position maintains overall control and responsibility for all financial aspects of MedSurg BU ("MedSurg") in Stryker China, leads a finance BP team to partner with MedSurg commercial head and BU leaders, provides solid financial evaluation and consultation for business initiatives, directs and coordinates accounting practices in conjunction with the preparation of financial reports, and drives financial discipline in business decisions to improve results with regards to budgets, projections and the overall health of Stryker China MedSurg business.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: (Detailed Description)

  • Work with MedSurg leadership team to grow the business by formulating appropriate financial strategies and plans. Support the identification of market opportunities. Determine business strategy to seize market opportunities or deal with business risks (such as VBP, IPE) both organically and through business development (e.g. acquisitions).
  • Lead MedSurg FIN BP team to partner with MedSurg commercial team to manage franchise P&L and cash flow to drive sustainable profitable business growth. Help business wisely utilize investments and resources to maximize growth opportunities and profitability.
  • Lead MedSurg budgeting, forecasting and long-range financial planning (LRFP) process. Analyze and interpret operating results as compared to financial goals and objectives, and drive actions to realize opportunities or mitigate risks. Prepare and present monthly financials to China management. Act as primary point of contact for all MedSurg financial matters and queries.
  • Lead team to provide comprehensive financial analysis and advice on business proposals with action-oriented recommendations and ensure financial discipline in all business decisions
  • Drive Service Center profitability improvement and ensure robust controlling mechanism is in place
  • Partner with Finance Controller, China in the implementation of accounting guidelines and ensure all Company policies are adhered to
  • Partner with Business Controller - FICM to assist with channel strategy implementation in MedSurg, enhance off contract discount management, and optimize channel DII
  • Directly participate in financial closing cycle and the preparation of financial supporting documents (e.g. rebate recalculation, one-off discount and accrual) for appropriate book keeping
  • Participate in annual contract review process and provide financial consultation on business contract templates
  • Continuously drive standard works and process improvements in business related processes
  • Lead other projects as assigned by the supervisor

Qualifications / Experience / Special Trainings & Skills:

Qualifications /Work Experience Preferred:

  • Minimum 12 years of relevant working experience, with 5+ years commercial finance experience and 5+ years management experience
  • Experience in partnering with commercial leaders and providing financial reporting and guidance
  • Proven track record of performance and increases in responsibility within a finance team
  • Strong business acumen with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Positive attitude, fast learner, and good team player; good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong leadership skills with passion for building, engaging and developing a high performing team
  • Strong in Internal Controls and be able to build standard works and process re-engineering
  • Have sound business ethics and consistency among principles, values and behaviors, and adhere to policies and procedures; be able to exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine the appropriate action
  • MNC working experience, healthcare industry is preferred
  • Big 4 Consulting/Auditing firm experience is preferred

Education / Special Training Required:

  • Bachelor degree or above in Finance related majors
  • M.B.A. (or equivalent) with concentration in Finance, Accounting or general business preferred
  • CPA preferred
  • Fluent in English and Chinese
  • Familiar with PRC GAAP, US GAAP and Sarbanes Oxley Act
