SPECIFIC:
- The primary responsibility will be assisting with the design & testing of various aspects of an integrated neurosurgical product offering.
- Evaluation of design options and bench testing to determine acceptability criteria and optimal solution given a constrained time line.
- Progress updates to be provided in design reviews as required
- Support of prototyping and new product development
- Develop, iterate existing UI mockups and prototypes
- Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
- Design and build test fixtures and jigs in support of verification and product testing, as needed.
- Assisting in assembly of prototype devices, development of opto-mechanical jigs & fixture, research on injection molding methods & materials, supporting the project manager as required.
- Producing DHF documentation such as requirements, protocols and test reports.
GENERAL:
While working with a team of engineers and under the supervision of a senior engineer, the co-op will be
expected to engage on some of the following types of activities:
- Quality Management System DHF/DMR development on new and existing products, including documentation, meetings, and liaising across cross-functional teams.
- Participate in front-end conceptual design and engineering activities on new products.
- Create design concepts (wireframes, mockups, prototypes, etc.) based on user research insights
- Conduct research to test and validate design concepts
- Sourcing components and identifying appropriate vendors.
- Design of test setups and testing conditions to investigate options for improving device performance.
- May work with vendor engineers to design systems, and during early design stages to perform evaluations and experiments.
- Participate in design reviews
- Understand and follow proper procedures and best practices; work with senior designers to improve them.
- Contribute to project planning and commit to deliverable goals. Proactively report progress to project
management and R&D management when required.
- Take direction as needed from senior designers and R&D managers; complete most tasks with minimal
guidance; use resources responsibly and effectively.
- Proactively seek out senior leaders and managers as necessary.
