Stryker is hiring an Associate Lab Supervisor in Redmond, WA supporting our Medical division within our Emergency Care product line! As an Associate Lab Supervisor, you'll lead a team of Lab technicians and material handlers to ensure compliance with Product Development and Sustainment Support. This role involves managing product verification testing, approval activities, and adherence to procedures, executing test cases based on defined plans and protocols. With a focus on achieving results through others, the role includes managing direct staff and leading processes for impactful outcomes. A comprehensive understanding of discipline concepts and principles is essential, with financial accountability for independent budgets. Responsibilities encompass full team management, defining roles, supporting future department needs, counseling performance, and contributing to employee career advancement or changes.

Work Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 1st Shift; Operating on a 4x10 arrangement (four days per week, ten hours per day from 6:00 am to 4:30 pm), with some flexibility available.

What you will do:

  • Leads and supports the recruitment of temporary and permanent talent to the team.
  • Personnel management including scheduling, providing technical assistance, and employee development which includes communicating company policies, coaching and counseling and enforcing company policies and procedures.
  • Employee engagement- Responsible and accountable for actions promoting an environment that fosters teamwork, empowerment, personal growth and development.
  • Conducts regular 1-on-1's and provides coaching and counseling as needed to promote team member development.
  • Responsible for developing written performance appraisals as well as administering the appraisals.
  • Provides updates to team members on topics including, but not limited to, business metrics and performance, training and development opportunities, company events and other information as it becomes available.
  • Ensures compliance with established regulatory, quality, legal, corporate, and human resources policies and procedures.
  • Enforces adherence to standards of training and documentation processes. These activities may include, but are not limited to the following: audits, calibration, standardized work instructions and 6S.
  • Responsible for ensuring all team members are trained in accordance with test lab standards. Ensures all team members are properly trained by assigning, coordinating and monitoring progress on all aspects of team member training.
  • Creates and maintains a safe work environment through continued focus on risk reduction.
  • Accountable for all record-keeping as appropriate and in accordance with Stryker specifications.
  • Drives preventative maintenance responsibilities for team and coordinates with support staff for assistance as needed.
  • Performs with honesty and integrity instituting a highly responsive and unsurpassed level of customer service providing best-in-class services and quality.
  • Works effectively with applicable departments within the division including, but not limited to, R&D, Materials, Quality, Engineering, Regulatory, Service, Human Resources, Operations and Technical Support.
  • Works with peer supervisor(s), Lab Planner, Test Engineers, Lab Coordinator and Manager to ensure teams priorities are adjusted as needed to meet business needs.
  • Coordinates and schedules overtime as needed to ensure testing is not delayed.
  • Ensures team is meeting customer requests and completing testing on time, tracks instances when it is not and solves problems at the root level.
  • Consolidates all lab issues or concerns and helps root cause problems. Develops and implements error-proofing ideas to improve quality.
  • Ensures team is using materials equipment replenishment systems properly, determines root causes of issues or concerns and implements solutions. Ensure all expenses are appropriately allocated and cross charged as needed.
  • Working with Test Lab Technicians and Engineers, identifies new equipment and techniques to improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Manages projects as assigned including strategy, schedule and resources.
  • Manages monthly purchasing budget for general lab supplies.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing of personnel for each Business Unit.
  • Learn areas of support to lend hands-on assistance when necessary.
  • Manages projects within the Test Lab.
  • Manage team objectives.
  • Assist in the development of strategic Test Lab plan.

Required

  • Associate degree with 6+ years of technical professional experience working within New Product Development (NPD), Product testing and/or sustainment OR Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelors degree or Associates degree in a Science or related discipline
  • Previous experience in leadership or managerial settings recommended and demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams, even in the absence of extensive managerial experience.
  • Knowledge in product reliability testing and analysis.
  • Strong organization, planning, communication, project management and performance attainment in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
  • Must display critical thinking skills and the ability to make a logical decision that ensures all operational, compliance and regulatory concerns are satisfied, while making every effort to satisfy the day-to-day needs of the business.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple project workloads.
  • Experience with recruiting, people development.
  • Influence across the organization.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.

75,300.00 to 156,900.00 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
