The Enterprise Risk Management ('ERM') team supports the local businesses in the identification, analysis, and management of risk by promoting a framework of appropriate oversight, policies, guidelines and limits, together with a collaborative and consultative engagement model.

Scope of Role

Reporting into the Head of Operational Risk Management, Hangzhou you will be part of a team of risk management professionals dedicated to the continual improvement of risk management capability at State Street. ERM APAC seeks a highly motivated and experienced Risk Management candidate to join our Operational and Technology Risk team in Hangzhou, China.

• Provide business unit support by acting as an internal consultant promoting the Operational and Technology Risk Management programs and advising on risk-related matters

• Support Principal Risk Manager/Manager-in-Charge/Chief Risk Officer (as required by regulation/internal policy) for legal entities in APAC

• Work with the First Line Of Defence (FLOD) to understand and assess risks associated with specific processes, provide analysis of the control and recommendations to strengthen the control environment

• Identify potential Operational and IT risks and related issues by applying knowledge of industry trends

• Carry out deep dives / targeted risk assessments on business area processes

• Build and lead reporting for the IT and Operational Process and Control Reviews team relating to reviews, controls, issues, and advisory work

• For ERM APAC as the Second Line of Defence (SLOD), oversee the conformance practice for regulatory obligations related to Embedded Risks to ensure Business's compliance with the applicable laws, policies and procedures

• Ensure a robust control environment for managing risks related to both existing regulations and regulatory changes across the region

• Ensure consistency and accuracy with regard to audits, reviews, and examinations across the region. Monitor internal audits and risk/compliance reviews, investigating matters as needed

• Co-ordinate and carry out regulatory engagement on consultations and surveys related to the area of responsibilities

Experience

• Candidate should have a minimum of 8 years of experience in financial services

• Strong awareness of risk management concepts and practice, preferably with prior experience in risk management

• Good analytical, interpersonal, time management and research

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Good understanding of banking regulations, especially relating to Operational and Technology risk management

• Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships

• Self-motivated, with ability to work autonomously and as part of a team

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent, ideally in a quantitative discipline, Finance, Economics or similar
