Who we are looking for
Leading technical contributor to the enhancement and maintenance of one or more Charles River IMS modules or components of an agile scrum team. Provide engineering troubleshooting assistance to customer support teams and other development teams within Charles River.

CRD helps create enterprise investment management software solutions for large institutions in the areas of institutional investment, wealth management and hedge funds. Together we have created the first open front-to-back platform - State Street Alpha that was launched in 2019.

What you will be responsible for
• Database Design and Architecture
o Develop and design database architecture to support Charles River applications, ensuring system scalability, security, performance and reliability
o Design strategies for distributed database platforms, including Data Warehouse, Data Mart, Data Lake and Operational Data Storage (ODS) that support cloud architecture and microservices
o Collaborate with system and software architects to set standards for operations, programming, security and deployment of the databases
• Data Modeling
o Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of database design, data models, configurations, and processes
o Establish standard processes to ensure data model consistency and accuracy across business applications
• Database Security and Disaster Recovery
o Establish and enforce database security best practices, including access controls, encryption, and data masking that ensure compliance with data protection regulations
o Collaborate with production DBA to conduct capacity planning that address future and long-term data storage and performance requirements
o Design and develop high availability, robust disaster recovery, and data purging and backup strategies
• Database Performance
o Optimize performance through indexing, SQL query optimization, and other database tuning techniques
o Monitor database performance metrics, analyze and identify bottlenecks, and recommend short-term and long-term solutions
o Collaborate with engineering teams to define performance test strategy, and develop toolsets to generate synthetic datasets for effective and repeatable performance tests
• Collaboration and Leadership
o Provide technical guidance and support to engineering, SaaS Operation, support and Implementation teams
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, SaaS Operation, support, and implementation, to ensure seamless integration of database systems
o Provide technical leadership and mentorship to database engineers

What we value
• Extensive hands-on experience in RDBMS and distributed data platforms as a database architect
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to troubleshoot and resolve database related issues
• Proficiency in SQL and database design principles
• Experience with cloud database services such as Azure SQL Database or AWS RDS
• Experience in NoSQL databases is preferred
• Programming experience in Java, C++, C#, JDBC, Sprint boot, and Microservices is a plus
• Experience with developing applications for the financial markets is a plus (Fixed Income, Trading, FX, Risk, Portfolio/Wealth Management, Market Data, FIX, etc.)

Education & Preferred Qualifications
• 7 to 10+ years of experience as a Database Architect or in a similar role supporting enterprise applications backed with RDBMS databases or Snowflake
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus
• Proven experience with major relational databases such as MS SQL Server or Oracle, hardware sizing and configuration, operating systems, scripting, and database technologies
• Strong understanding of database security best practices and data protection regulations
• Ability to provide technical leadership and collaborate effectively with cross functional and organizational teams
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• A minimum of 7 years working with an Agile development methodology strongly desired

Salary Range:
$110,000 - $185,000 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
