This position contributes to Starbucks’ success by driving the Global Cyber Security Group (GCS) towards the design, development, and deployment of key security services, as well as serving as a key member contributing to maintaining a resilient and protected cybersecurity environment. As a Cybersecurity Engineer Sr, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security of Starbucks’ systems and data.

As a Cybersecurity Engineer Sr, you will…

  • Security Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive security risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities and potential threats to the organization's systems, networks, and applications.
  • Threat Intelligence and Research: Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and trends. Perform research and analysis on emerging technologies and potential security risks. Collaborate with industry peers and organizations to share threat intelligence and assist in proactive threat mitigation efforts.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior cybersecurity team members. Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, including IT operations, development, and compliance, to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to cybersecurity.
  • Design, develop, deploy, monitor, and maintain scalable, resilient cybersecurity services.
  • Bring an “SRE” mindset to the team: designing and deploying solutions with automation wherever practical.
  • Facilitates remediation of threats by working with other cybersecurity and IT teams.
  • Ensures documentation for managed platforms/services are detailed, thorough, and up to date.
  • Acts as a mentor and escalation point for more junior members of the team.
  • Participate as a key member in security incident response activities.

We’d love to hear from people with...

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or 5+ years of equivalent experience in cybersecurity engineering related roles.
  • 6+ years of experience working in an information technology discipline.
  • 6+ years of infrastructure / information security experience.
  • 4+ years of experience working with infrastructure as code technologies.
  • Experience deploying, configuring, and troubleshooting cybersecurity tools in enterprise environments.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISSM or others focused on cybersecurity, data privacy or information risk management.
  • Advanced knowledge of cybersecurity principles and practices
  • Experience with technologies such as firewalls, antivirus software, and intrusion detection systems
  • Experience with security frameworks and compliance requirements
  • Proficiency in implementing and managing security controls and technologies
  • Knowledge of network security protocols and concepts
  • Familiarity with operating systems and network architectures
  • In-depth understanding of enterprise-level cybersecurity strategies, frameworks, and technologies
  • Proficiency in conducting security assessments and audits
  • Ability to develop and implement security policies and procedures
  • Experience in managing and responding security incidents
  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Advanced experience with at least one modern programming language such as Java, Go, Python, Ruby, C++, or C#.
  • Advanced Proficiency interacting with API's and automating tasks using common scripting languages.

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.  For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity.  At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
