Social Science Research Professional 2
Stanford REACH Lab in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Social Science Research Professional 2 with research experience to assist in the development and evaluation of our substance prevention curriculums, including our Tobacco Prevention Toolkit, Cannabis Awareness & Prevention Toolkit, and Vaping Information, Solutions, and Interventions Toolkit. The successful candidate will also support research that informs public health programs and policies. Prior experience working with community-engaged research and/or health promotion is preferred.
Work will be performed at Stanford Main Campus, Stanford Research Park and qualifies for hybrid work as agreed upon to meet operational needs.
Duties include:
● Assist in designing experiments, exercising independent initiative and judgment gained from completing a variety of high-level assignments, including activities such as defining variables, formulating hypotheses, and selecting subjects, sources of information, or planning and coordinating experimental protocols.
● Co-author sections of research publications and regulatory reports as needed.
● Adapt or work out the details of new, nonstandard procedures, with the supervisor providing general guidance and suggestions.
● Collect, interpret, synthesize, and analyze data using scientific or statistical techniques.
● Select and apply standard calculations and formulas independently to compile data or process documents; often serve as a resource for research methods and numerical analyses. Experience with survey programming through Qualtrics and REDCAP is preferred. Experience with statistical analysis programs such as SPSS or R is preferred.
● Complete project-related administrative and budgetary responsibilities, such as coordinating study activities with research participants, assisting with IRB protocol submissions, and managing study data. Solve problems, and make decisions that affect the direction of the research and result in independent contributions to the overall project.
● Supervise staff or students as needed, including oversight and instruction on techniques, as well as consultation on project work.

The expected pay range for this position is $85,376 to $99,581 per annum. Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Prior experience in community-engaged research, including interacting with research participants, community members, educators, etc.
● Detail-driven in organizing workflows and project deliverables
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor’s degree in an applicable social science related field and two years applicable experience, or combination of education and experience in an applicable social science.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
● Comprehensive understanding of scientific theory and methods.
● General computer skills and ability to quickly learn and master computer programs, such as Qualtrics
● Strong analytical skills and excellent judgment.
● Ability to work under deadlines with general guidance.
● Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to complete detailed work accurately.
● Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
● Ability to work with human study participants.
● Developing supervisory skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
● Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.

● Rarely twist/bend/stoop/squat, kneel/crawl, rarely reach/work above shoulders, operate foot and/or hand controls.
